you could get recyle2 and use that for
loops in dr-rex.
sampler/s there are 2 of course
the rack cannot be stretched
.
hope this helps.

ttoz wrote:What a great program. i am testing the demo, and besides the annoying 20 minutes quit limitation, I must say I am actually thoroughly enjoying it. I think props really ARE on to something with this...zero crashes too so far...it's becuase it is a closed system..so cool. I think patches wise, with so many refills available and for cheap too, I would be permanently covered.
By the way, I have never seen such low cpu usage for any program.
The excellent "realization" tarnce demo, at 64 sample buffer! takes 2 notches on the cpu reason meter and flicks to three now and then. like 15% cpu on my athlon 3200. a full song. pretty cool.
So some questions.
-I am presuming, the only way I am going to play my stereo audio loops is through the sampler?
-To play audio at all, I presume the sampler again is the only way?
-Anyway it can rewire to something like live? I am thinking for the case of time stretching loops only...
- I worked out that you can make the sequencer full screen, is there anyway to do this with the rack? Also, does anyone use this with dual monitors?
cheers

If you have ReCycle, the answers to 1 and 2 would be that you can use DrREX to play your loops as well. Also, what's stopping you from loading them into ReDrum?
Yes,it works great as a ReWire slave(the only thing it will host is ReBirth)
Nope-no full screen rack
ew

redrum is stereo, hit TAB and flip the rack round.
recyle only makes rex2 (stereo loops) you have to use that offline then load them into dr-rex.
you would have to chop up the vox samples and put them in one of the samplers. old school stylie.
or of course rewire into SX3 or Live (dunno how that works with rewire tho)

Dr Rex interfaces directly with recycle does it? does that load stereo loops?
I am thinking of vocals also. I've done a remix of a classic 70's track. how am i going to get the vocals into reason?
lastly, arpeggiation? is there a way to do this?

There are several ways of doing the things you're asking for:
To play audio-loops you can load them into the NN19 or NNXT. I wouldn't recommend the ReDrums because you'll probably experience some unwanted colouring of the sounds. You could use Propellerheads beat-slicer "ReCycle" and load them into DrRex too. Still, I can't recommend this for other than percussion-ish loops because it alters the sounds too.
Remember, that every time a sample goes through a machine there's a potential sound-colouring. If you swithch on the filter on a sampler (or DrRex) it does something to the sound, even if you use a totally open lp-filter! The ReMix (mixer) is also altering the sound pretty much
You can ReWire things up (Tracktion handles it very well, and you can get that for free if you hurry). I've tried it with several configurations and it seems very stable to me. If you decide to do that (and that's really the only option if you want record audio with your Reason projects) I use to route the Reason "devices" directly to the hardware-interface to avoid altering of the sound. Another cool thing is that you can apply effects in your sequencer as it were actually independent audio-streams! The compressor and EQ's aren't really usefull for anything than experimenting, so routing things to your sequencer seperatly comes in handy.
The next version of Reason (v3) features better compressing/limiting and EQ's. In fact it equips you with a complete set of "mastering" plugins (stereo-widening, sub-bass control etc) so hopefully it won't be necesary to wire everything this way.
The main reason that I use it is the NNXT. I haven't seens a sampler this complex and yet so easy to use elsewhere. The Scream sound-destruction unit and the vocoder do some amazing things for me as well.
I hope this clears up things a bit. You're welcome to pm me about operating Reason if you want.

You can import wave into NNXT, NN-19, & Redrum.
Rex files have to be converted by another program.
There is a trick to do a one-finger arp with the Matrix.
Wanna buy my copy?
PM me

Unfortunately, I cannot see a way to import wave into either sampler!
