Full SampleTank support in Translator

I took a look at some threads and I think people have been overlooking Translator - www.chickensys.com - the most powerful SampleTank convertor there is.
Allows full conversions into SampleTank 1 and SampleTank 2 from all major formats, not just some, and it does them more accurately than either the native importer or other convertors. It also is the only convertor to convert into SampleTank 2, AFAIK.
Also included are many SampleTank-specific modification functions, since the editor in SampleTank is lacking. You can make SampleTank presets in SampleTank itself, then update your original SampleTank to take on those attributes.
You can preassign effects to go into your converted SampleTank files, and assign the Macro knobs as well.
You can completely view a SampleTank files structure and audition it within Translator as well.
There is a SampleTank only version available as well for less money. The Mac version of Translator supports converting into SampleTank 1 only right now, but that will be upgraded to the Win spec within a month.

AFAIK, ST1 isn't "public" either.
I'm using the deintion of "public" as something that either the company published for public access or someone else published an accurate document specifying the format.

Garth, a question. Before Akai Pro shut down their FTP server, I downloaded their free sample libraries. A lot of the stuff in there is unusual sounds, ethnic instruments, atmospherics... material I can't find elsewhere.
But it's just a heap of .wav files plus Akai's inscrutable (to me) auxiliary files. Not Akai-formatted CDs.
The question: Will Chicken Translator Pro do a complete translation of these into SampleTank 2 and Reason NN-XT format? (Within the limits of the target sample player, that is.)
If so, I'd definitely be interested in joining a group buy. SampleTank's own samples, plus Sonic/k Synths 1 and 2 and other add-ons, have filled up my library to near bursting. But there are some pretty good sounds in that heap of freebies too, and I'd like to have easier access to them.
Thanks,
Meffy

chickeneps,
I have tested your Translator Free, it seems to work quite well, however the SampleTank Utilities do not funtion in the Free version.
How about some screenshots of the "SampleTank Utilities" Dialog Box, maybe that will clarify the capabilities... (Context (right-click) Menus - SampleTank Utilities)
If these SampleTank Utilities do what I hope, then I would be very interested in a Group Buy.

The online documentation is a bit sparse in exactly what these Utilities can do. I think a large number of ST users will be very interested in these utilities if we can have an insight in this.Chicken Systems Online Doc wrote:SampleTank Utilities
These are special SampleTank-specific utilities designed to make your life easier. All of these can be performed in bulk, by right-clicking on a folder, or one at a time, by right-clicking on a specific SampleTank .sth file.
If you are doing this in bulk and wish to have it pertain to an entire folder tree, make sure you have Recurse Sub-Folders checked in Options-Destination Locations.
Modify Instruments
Allows you to make certain changes in one or more SampleTank files. Brings up a dialog that specifies what you what to change.
Leaving a Text field BLANK in this dialog means you DO NOT want the parameter changed. If you want a field blanked out, then type in "<blank>", without the quotes. Pressing CTL-F5 while in that field also puts that special character in.
Modifiable parameters include Tank Name, Copyright, Effects, Macro Knobs, and others.
Connect Presets to Instruments
SampleTank 2 Preset files, with the extension .stip, link to the Instruments they modify by a internal 64-bit ID that cannot be changed by the user. Thus the potential of losing the link between Preset and Instrument is very real. This function allows you to link up these files again.
Create/Update Instruments from Presets
Allow new SampleTank 2 instruments to be created based on the information in a Preset modifying the original SampleTank 2 file. You can also elect to overwrite the original Instrument itself, and also have the option of deleting the Preset itself.
Update Presets from Instruments
The opposite of Create/Update Instruments from Presets. You can select which parameters get modified in the Preset. Remember, although a Preset only modifies one Instrument, a Instrument can be modified by any number of Presets.

Group buy for me as well.
I have always "looked" at Translator, but a good priced GBuy would push me over the edge!

For all at Rubber Chicken Software, here's a comic strip. The lady fox in the cartoon has just invented a flavor of ice cream that causes cosmic epiphanies in those who eat it, and now people in power are trying to get the formula from her.

This thing does exactly what I was looking for, full programmability of ALL parameters in a .sti or .stip file.
chickeneps, I am definitely in for a Group Buy for Translator...

I'm in on a group-buy. Extreme Translator is good but I need ST2 import.

Actually, while I'm here, does the Translator export NNXT samples out of a refill or just the native NNXT files?
