My favorite thing is they always seem to put out an update when I'm in the middle of finishing a song.

The drag and drop samples and create a song has been corner stone for some "old" hit songs already, and even created some very great songs. Sampling and recreating new songs from old samples etc.
So this is nothing new actually. Just a new way to do it inside FL Studio.

AI Mastering at this time might not be very good... But I think it will get better and better. And not even very long in the future maybe? The AI stuff is getting huge leaps very fast.

Studio One features and updates (so far, since version 5) are usually for their mixing workflow and that's it.
I almost hate to produce in Studio One because of its browser.

I also don't want to use separate DAWs (FL for Production, S1 for Recording and Mixing). I don't know what to do, to be honest, I feel lost.

Just a little rant.

Have fun with the new features FL users!
I know this feeling! So true and so much agree!
If I could just combine FL Studio and Studio One to create one DAW it would be the one and only DAW to need

It won't. I know from my own composition and song-writing skills that that is a cerebral process that is to a big part of it unknown even to myself. My brain does it somehow and often I'm baffled (and impressed - there, I said it :hihi:) at how I came up with that. I think that's called inspiration.

Bring it on.

^^^ AIs can also be used in creative ways, which can be the subject of competitions
Beautiful the World is largely written using artificial intelligence. The team trained their machine with audio samples of koalas, kookaburras and Tasmanian devils, giving the song a unique Australian twist. It also carries a positive social message: after the huge forest fires that ravaged the country over the past year and cost many animals their lives, nature has the ability to recover.

...yeah but that's the problem. The fact that it (be it AI or loops-remixing) can be used creatively doesn't mean it will be used creatively. People do that now cause it's an interesting novelty. Exciting for nerds. ...but once that wears off in few years, you'll have the "quick" and the "old and obsolete" way of creating. Choosing to actually come up with notes will be comparable to choosing knit your own scarf. Cute thing to kill time, nice therapy, but realistically too inefective to actually get in front of people's ears.

Am blown away. What an awesome update. My theme doesn't look like that, but I guess i have to change it. (It looks like a bag of Skittles melted on it).
The AI mastering...hmmm. I liked the results with Sonible better. You do get choices and I found maybe the genre they suggest to use isn't the best. That being said, I've already sent a track for distribution to Distrokid and it couldn't have been easier.
I think this is a great value, a great update, and can't wait to see what's to come.

You're gonna have kids who think all music production is is downloading bunch of looops, remixing them into a track, putting AI master on top of it and sending it straight for distribution. All in the one program.
I have to agree with you. It's sad to me to see how FL Studio is being aimed towards producers and away from musicians. If they were trying to dispel the myth of FL Studio as a toy this latest version certainly didn't help.

Oh well I can't really blame them as I imagine there are far more producers than musicians who actually play an instrument. Image-Line relies on selling to new users and now the subscription service will probably add revenue.

To long time users, lifetime free updates have no value if they don't bring anything you want or need.

I don't use loops, I need a program that will record my keyboard playing accurately and can handle Mod Wheel, Aftertouch and Pitch Bend in a logical manner instead of the completely disjointed way FL handles them now.

I've enjoyed using FL Studio since somewhere around version 3 but lately I've been spending a lot of time with Bitwig and Tracktion Waveform. They seem more suited to my needs now.

This is the first official release version of FL Studio that I haven't immediately installed on my studio computer and probably won't for some time.

As for the cloud service. I've been getting this for the last two days on this system:

I was able to sign on right after I installed the update (and after it hard crashed this system) but since then it simply won't connect.

Hard to tack this story. Before everyone was complaining FL Studio was for beginners and real musicians used Ableton, Cubase or Logic :)

I have been making music for 20 years and find the sounds tab a great addition. I don't need a lot of sample content anymore, but really nice to drop in there and grab some things from time to time. Most importantly its fast and safe.

No, you're just not understanding what I wrote. I said " not on my studio computer" and "installed on this system". I thought that would be crystal clear but I guess not.

Yes I installed it on this computer which is my internet/test system. I will install FL Studio Betas and Release Candidates on it to test them (as well as all manner of freeware, demos, etc)

I only install FL Studio official releases on my studio computer and only plugins that pass the test on this system. That helps me to keep the studio system as lean and clean as possible and keeps it off the internet except for things like copy protection handshakes and product updates.

I recommend this method to everyone who can afford to and has the space to run two systems. I only paid about $180 for this refurbished system so it's not like it takes a ton of money to do things that way.

Does that clear things up for you?

People have been calling FL Studio a toy since it was Fruity Loops. I've always pushed back against that perception and defended FL but with this release it makes that much harder to do.

I've been making music for much longer and I realize some people are giddy at the prospect of being able to download loops to make a song and then letting AI master it for them. To me that has all the artistic satisfaction of paint by numbers. Soon all you'll have to do is push one button and the whole process will be done for you. That's when music will die as an art form. The satisfaction of art is in the creation process.

But to each his own. This version brings absolutely nothing I need so I'll just keep the last version installed on my studio system for now. Even the nice sounding little synth that was added, "Kepler" was done half arsed as it can't be resized and is postage stamp small at 1080. I'm sure it's fine on kid's laptops and that sadly appears to be Image-Line's target audience now. Again I don't blame them as I imagine that's the largest untapped segment of the market.

Lifetime free updates are great but free doesn't automatically bring value.
