Ouch, I kind of feel weird but ... I love the UI... Not much the colors but the kind of material design look...
(and for the record I don't like Rob Papen's design so I am not THAT weird).

Oh no. I'm not sure if you are referring to this, but I absolutely hate Google's "Material Design" design language. Only an engineering-driven corporate monster could come up with something so ugly.Jac459 wrote: Sat Oct 28, 2023 5:04 am Ouch, I kind of feel weird but ... I love the UI... I've worked for a couple of companies that previously used Material Design for their web apps' UIs. The first thing I did was fire all of those UX designers and then proceed to implement a less hideous design language. For christ's sake, someone has to stand up for beauty in this horrible, tasteless world of ours.
If you're using a shitty Android phone with its fugly Material Design UI, may I politely suggest you throw it in the nearest river or canal and buy an iPhone. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry for the off topic parenthesis but I also own a mac and an ipad and I am absolutely not a fan of either the design of ios and android. On iOS I hate the dropdown menu with the connection and all. It is really ugly and too blend.
Android is not really better....
Ok, now I will say the worst thing possible.
I was actually a big fan of Windows phone 7 design, mix of text and pictures, very eleguant, very pure...
But yeah, clearly history has proven me wrong lol ... My taste are weird...

Well, u-he doesn't make classic hardware synths which are an incredibly risky investment for a small boutique company like Waldorf. Just ask Sequential, Moog, et al how that goes.Caine123 wrote: Sat Oct 28, 2023 7:25 am looks like another company charges a v2 which is more like an update?

Waldorf, in at least one incarnation, made two of my favorite synths, the MicroWave I Rev A and MicroWave II XT.
So unlike some cheapskates, I'm more than happy to pay Waldorf a small fee to update Largo if that keeps them building fantastic hardware synths. Besides, the nominal Largo 2 upgrade fee is a lot less money than even a relatively inexpensive hardware Blofeld.

I don't have the eyesight to interpret this GUI. I just got it and this Thread is already on page 6. Is there a way to change the skin? Thank you for your patience.

I think everyone is free to do what he wants with his/her money.Haha Haha wrote: Sat Oct 28, 2023 8:32 am So unlike some cheapskates, I'm more than happy to pay Waldorf a small fee to update Largo if that keeps them building fantastic hardware synths. Personally, for me, the additions don't justify the upgrade. GUI wise, I would downgrade. I'm not that interested in the formant filters (I can always have that with external plugins, if I want to), and, I'm not on a Mac either, so, I don't need the Apple Sillicon compatibility.
And, frankly, with my money, I would tell Waldorf that they did a great job with that GUI, which I think they haven't. It looks cheap, quickly thrown together, and amateurish. Sorry, I like Waldorf, but, anything before that (maybe except for Nave) looks and feels WAY better than that. Like Aloysius wrote, you can't even read the value fields and dropdown menus, if you don't have better than perfect eyesight. The colour choice is bad, the actual design of the GUI elements is bad. I really don't know how Waldorf can think that this is in any way representative of the quality they always had over the years. If I would be in charge there (we all like those planning games, don't we?
Sorry for the harsh words. Again, I like Waldorf, but, this is just totally unimpressive. v1 had a great GUI, and, they just ruined it with the v2 GUI.

May I politely suggest you buy a larger monitor. They are extremely affordable these days. After all, Largo 2 is resizeable. So you can increase its size to whatever size your eyesight requires.Aloysius wrote: Sat Oct 28, 2023 8:44 am I don't have the eyesight to interpret this GUI. I have a 24" 1080p monitor, which I sit about 60 to 70 cms away from, and, the value fields and dropdownmenus are unreadable, if I don't move 30 cms towards the monitor. The font is tiny, and, the choice of red font colour (on the value fields) on dark background is the cardinal error of a user friendly design.
Again, I don't think the GUI designer really has a clue of design.
