Also, what about using seconds instead of beats? It can be changed to beats later (if needed), right?Artie Fichelle wrote: Sat Oct 28, 2023 3:49 pm just do not use the metronome. Just play and edit later. Have I got something wrong thought with that?

I like that idea . . . finger drum through the song (either hitting C2/bass drum on controller or banging on desk). Is it easy enough to create a linear tempo map in most DAWs that changes throughout? I never did that as I usually confine myself to a set tempo.Danilo Villanova wrote: Sat Oct 28, 2023 3:10 pm A good approach is to use a scratch track instead of a metronome. Use a guitar or drum on your desk, or whatever, without a metronome, following the structure of the song/part you're recording. Then create a tempo map based on the scratch track, then your metronome will follow that instead of the grid and you can layer the rest of your tracks using that.

CRUD!!... i thought this was gonna be about off-grid composing like on 12 volts or whatever out in a cabin... Which would be an interesting topic with WW3 being enacted...
