My first guitar amp (30+ years ago!) was a Fender Sidekick Reverb 35 and it's still sounds great. Reverb tank is awesome and the odd kick is mandatory.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun Oct 22, 2023 4:01 pm I sometimes miss my old 15W solid state Pro-Amp “Demon” amp but only because it made the greatest sound from the reverb tank when you dropped it; the sound from the amp itself was woeful.
What guitar gear have you bought/are you buying/will you buy?

I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

I'm tending toward the Surfybear Metal. The digital pedal seems great, and I do need a decent tremolo as well, but the Surfybear is real springs.

It wasn't easy to choose, but I've finally bought a classic guitar and a mic!
The classic guitar is Cordoba C7 Spruce top and the Mic is Rode M2 (condenser mic, thanks to donkey tugger and pekbro).

and

I went to the shop and it was a love at first sight
So, I touched it and played little with it. Immediately, I knew it is this one! I like the Spruce more than Cedar (although a year ago, I would choose Cedar! But my taste changed little). I liked the clear bright big sound it has.
Actually, I'm much more excited about this guitar than the electric guitar I bought a week ago! It is just so easy to play and sound is so sweet
I will test my setup at night and delve into some lessons in the latest e-book I bought

That has a solid top so it’ll sound better as it ages. Cedar tends to age more quickly (3 years) but spruce tends to sound better when it’s fully aged (10 years). Speaking as someone whose classical is 46 years old, that time will fly.

Been curious about J&D Guitars, especially alder bodied.
The first time I recall seeing a input jack on the rear of a guitar body. J&D DX-100

They have a Jazz Master type with decent materials.

I actually never looked at those enough to even know what they are exactly, "composite" may stand for various artificial materials, right? Don't have that stuff on any instrument, but I remember my uncle, who happens to be just a few years older than me, got a luthery guitar in the early 90ies (a Manne)... it had an artificial resin fretboard, deep black and very compact, which I disliked just for the fact that it wasn't wood.
He lent it to me for a gig at some point, as my only guitar was being serviced, and remember thinking "boy, was I wrong about this baby".
Not trying to convince you they're cool... and actually don't know how I got here, I meant to just write the first line with the question, then got lost on the Manne-resin memory

J&D is one of the major OEM’s. When I visited their factory 10 years ago, they were building Squire’s.

That's good to know, I expect the quality and experience to be there. I might get an alder t-style to mod. The ugly headstock on some models could be improved.Uncle E wrote: Sat Oct 28, 2023 6:08 pm J&D is one of the major OEM’s. When I visited their factory 10 years ago, they were building Squire’s.
Years ago, I saw a YT video of a J&D LP. The fixed neck went to the neck pickup cavity and the maple top was the pretty thick, found the video, below.

Care to elaborate?
I noticed maple was brighter than rosewood, purpleheart not so much.
