The music we want to upload on Bandacmp contains lots of foul language. Mainly f**k and Shit. In Bandcamp's Terms of Use it states:

Bandcamp wrote:By way of example, and not as a limitation, you shall not (and shall not permit any third party to) either (a) take any action or (b) upload, download, post, submit or otherwise distribute or facilitate distribution of any content on or through the Service, including without limitation any User Submission, that:

infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, right of publicity or other right of any other person or entity or violates any law or contractual duty;
you know is false, misleading, untruthful or inaccurate;
is unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, libelous, deceptive, fraudulent, invasive of another’s privacy, tortious, obscene, offensive, or profane
That last bit - Profane - is what we are concerned with.
Has anyone here had any experience of getting an account deleted due to songs containing profanity?
I'm sure one or two "f**ks" is permissable but that's an assumption.
We are curious how much restriction is imposed.

I did notice an "explicit" tag that can be applied to songs so I assume they wouldn't have that if there is no leeway.
Not sure if anybody here has enough or any cussing in their songs to have experience with this but figure I'd take a shot asking.

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

"i dont think that word means what you think it means."

its not actually a direct synonym for 'swearing.' swearing is often considered to be a profane action, but 'profane' has a lot of particular (negative) connotations in the context of religion.

Let's see, *pulls out list*, yep - that leaves us with 2 songs.
In all seriousness, that would explain the availability of an explicit tag.
Plus it wouldn't hurt if I put an explicit warning on the album cover just to be all Tipper Gore about it. *Thinking out loud*

You know why they put up that text up there? Because their lawyers told them to, so they cannot be held responsible for anything. That is way more important than actually enforcing it.

All it takes is for some bored idiot to complain about an album being too filthy for them to have to enforce it.
But it appears as if a f**k here and a f**k there, so long as it doean't lean towards profanity as defined by the above link, should be fine even if anyone were to complain.

I think that's why Old Macdonald wound up in prison.

I've bought lots of punk stuff as well as Industrial and they curse like dockers and often have very horrible (but true) things to say about the Catholic church. They've been around for years on BC. Your stuff will probably very tame compared to that lot and that black metal stuff.

And if they don't like it f**k them. Sell it somewhere else.

EDIT: Irony KVR censoring the F word. LOOL :lol:
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too. :lol:

That's not profanity. It's simply discussing diet.

The thing with hip hop is It's expected that the lyrics will contain the word f**k. It's akin to country music where one will expect to hear the word "love".
On the other hand, if you play, say, my band and hear catchy feel good pop rock but the lyrics say Jesus Jacks Off and you swallow like a f**k (we really do have a song with those lyrics which we decided to hold off on for now. It's about people and consumerism), it's more of an impact and...well, the nail that sticks out the most etc.

There is no freedom, only privilege. We wouldn't be having this discussion if that weren't the case. If you still need more convincing, go to an airport, yell Bomb and watch what happens.

Sounds right up my alley.

Which is no benefit to us because if listeners think we are tame and all of a sudden get slapped with 50 f**ks and 20 shits then that's where the finger pointing and gasps come flying in like annoying mosquitos.
Anyhow, point taken. A f**k f**k here a f**k f**k there here a f**k there a f**k everywhere a f**k f**k, old Mc f**k f**k can f**k off.
That should be fine versus f**k god. f**k the cross. And the Bible is a doo doo head.
Amen.
