Out of curiosity, did they help you solve this issue?THE INTRANCER wrote: Sat Oct 21, 2023 4:08 am Oh look, Rapid has decided that it doesn't know that there is already a Factory Soundbank already activated. It was working yesterday and for months. What this means is that you hear no sound from the synth.

I know how to fix it having done it multiple times now as I have an internet connection but it's still really annoying. Didn't need their help.PebbleInAStream wrote: Sun Oct 29, 2023 10:33 amOut of curiosity, did they help you solve this issue?THE INTRANCER wrote: Sat Oct 21, 2023 4:08 am Oh look, Rapid has decided that it doesn't know that there is already a Factory Soundbank already activated. Does Rapid "phone-home" once in a while like Roland Cloud?

I think the RCM checks authorization every 4 weeks or so.

Doesn't the Roland cloud app run at startup and sit in your system tray? Doesn't seem like they would need to phone home if that's the case.
Arturia plugins phone home when you open them and that's one reason they take so long to load.
This is from simply loading the Jup 8 in a DAW a minute or so ago:
I imagine there are many more plugins that phone home as well.

No, it's optional to run at startup. You can load a DAW and then load e.g. the D-50 plugin without it. But if it's been a while, it may ask you to authorize it.

Ahhh I see. I remember trying the Roland Cloud and it wanted to run at startup. Maybe I'll try it again. If I can get the D-50 without having to subscribe I may give it a go.
EDIT: Unfortunately even with "run at startup" unchecked the RCM service does run at startup:
Anyway not to hijack the Parawave Rapid thread but there's really nothing to talk about other than there's still nothing new to discuss.
Off to uninstall the Roland Cloud Manager...........

I had RCM disabled within the Startup tab from about a week ago.
To see if it somehow might get enabled again, I started Cakewalk, then loaded the D-50.
I opened the Task Manager, checked Startup, and RCM and RCMservice still show as disabled for me there.

Even after disabling the start up commands and completely uninstalling RCM (including the removal of registry strings and folders), I still occasionally get a startup message that RCM needs to be reinstalled. Not sure what else there is to do to completely be rid of them.

I really detest all this dependency on the internet and virus/spyware. Unless it's streaming multimedia, it's unnecessary. It doesn't stop piracy and only punishes (and steals data from) actual paying customers.
Anyway, we now return you to our normally scheduled thread...
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?
