Multieffect to replace a H3000... conceptually

Thinking of selling my H3000 that's been upgraded to H3500 specs - it's a wonderful machine for scrolling through programs while playing guitar or a keyboard until something just sounds interesting/right (programming with a plan is the province of plugins) but using a rack unit is so awkward with the routing and space it takes up.

By conceptually I mean I'm not asking to mimic the '80s converters or specific programs but the wide range of pitch shifting, delays, comb filters, reverbs, etc. with a ton of good presets for inspiration.

NI Guitar Rig

Exponential Audio Excalibur was the best and most hardware sounding but Izotope flushed it down the toilet

On the other hand. Don’t sell it. You will regret it. If it’s in good condition and there are no issues with it, you shouldn’t sell it

Not the Eventide H3000 plugin then?

Post

I wish I hadn't sold the one I had because the price is so high now.

Soundtoys plugins could replace the H3000 though.

Take a look at Soundtoys Effect Rack https://www.soundtoys.com/product/effect-rack/ You can get it for a lower price if you wait for one of their sales, or you could always check the Buy/Sell section of KVR if you'd be interested in buying it second hand. It comes with 15 effects that you can configure in any order and they all sound fantastic.

The H3000 Factory plugin is only some of the algorithms and not any of the analog components. Still, it can sound very similar on the right presets.

Both are really great, but MXXX is really off the hook with possibilities. I got it a long time ago when it was on a Black Friday special, and it’s been great for when I want to stretch out and try wild effects. Nothing else really had the scope of different effects and ways to modulate their parameters.

OP specifically said "I'm not asking to mimic the '80s converters or specific programs ".

I know, I’m just saying that in general the plugin isn’t as capable as the hardware. I don’t know all that’s missing, but it’s easy enough to find out if you’re interested. Also, I don’t recommend it because the interface is crappy, like it came from 1992.

I think the H3000 plugin is the H3500 if I'm not mistaken.

Surely can't hurt if it sounds similar though.

I think you are mistaken.

Here’s a good review of the plugin.

https://tapeop.com/reviews/gear/95/h300 ... e-plug-in/

My main issue with it is that they’re asking a crazy high price for it. $349? Forget about it. I paid $75. Definitely wait for a sale.
