I like Pro-R, but it's the most polite reverb out there. It's going to be hard-pressed to beat out Cinematic Rooms for me, they sit in roughly the same sound space, the "natural" reverbs. I really want to be able to push it for sound design purposes, which it's not really ideal for.

That’s what I thought because I didn’t see any IR drop downsbmanic wrote: Tue Oct 31, 2023 2:58 pm Oh cool! The intro is out!
If you look carefully at that intro video you can see that it represents the song pretty closely. Those are really all my automation lanes going nuts, the freeze button hits exactly at the correct place in the video too! Nicely done Bas!
Just want to comment on this as there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding of this, going by the comments in the youtube video. Probably the words "IR Import" wasn't the correct choice of words. They should have called it "IR analysis and synthesis".. or something like that.
It's not actual convolution. In a way it's much cooler than that. It analyzes the impulse response, then synthesizes it and parameterizes to the Pro-R 'Modern' algorithm. Setting pre-delay, size, length, EQ and all the damping automatically. Naturally this wont always result in a 1 to 1 impulse response but sometimes it's damn close!
Personally I think this feature is amazing!
This looks like great fun in getting things close enough as is possible.

Recommendation on how to go about doing that? E.g., email to FF tech support, or maybe a forum thread dedicated to such things?bmanic wrote: Tue Oct 31, 2023 3:03 pm Now is a very good time to send them any feature requests you have for Twin 3.

Good question.. I don't know what the best approach would be. Probably their own forum.

Bmanic, talk! What’s this? What’s that vintage mode doing? Is it going to do the lexicon wrapping around the source / enveloping thing? Is it going to eliminate LX-24?bmanic wrote: Tue Oct 31, 2023 2:58 pm Oh cool! The intro is out!

Be honest, I will buy it anyway because I’m a brainwashed plugin hoarder reverb junky. Thank you!!

You'll just have to try it out. No it's not going to eliminate LX-24 as it behaves and sounds very different. I don't think FabFilter emulated any particular units but rather the algorithm is called vintage as it's way different to the one found in Pro-R1 (the 'modern' algorithm). Same with the Plate algorithm. I don't think it emulates anything in particular but it has a lot of 'plate like' characteristics and again sounds completely different to the two other algorithms.
Pro-R has always been a staple for me as a reverb that does the "can sound like a real space" very well but it was never able to go to extremes (other than with some crazy EQ and damper settings). Now it has a whole lot more range with the new algorithms and the new 'thickness' control. It also has mid/side EQ options for the EQ section which combos very nicely with the width control (which operates exactly the same as in Pro-R1).
People who like Pro-R will most definitely appreciate this update and people who didn't like Pro-R will now have two completely different algorithms to check out to see if it tickles their fancy this time around.

I am already a fan of Pro-R, so I know I'll love v2. Can't wait ... bring on those bmanic presets

Hoping the price is around what previous plugins have been. I live Pro-R 1 and looking forward to the upgrade. Probably an insta-buy for me. This looks amazing.

Does it work with IRs that have multiple transients, like an IR of a delay?

I'm pretty new to owning fabfilter products, so this is the first time I have one that has a new major version coming out. Anyone know what the typical upgrade price is like?

Doesn‘t Logic Pro Space Designer have a similar option?bmanic wrote: Tue Oct 31, 2023 2:58 pm Oh cool! The intro is out!

interesting move from FabFilter
I'm interested in hearing the new algorithms.
Pro-R is perhaps the only reverb that i don't use as a 'reverb' per se percy.
I generally use it on individual instruments to just put them in the pocket.
I'm sure the upgrade will be overpriced though.
