Izotope Vinyl now managed by Native Access - and after update/reinstall VST2 is gone :(

Hello,
I just found that Vinyl, now included in the revamped free Komplete Start, is now managed in Native Access.
Native Access today indicated Vinyl needed update to 1.12.1; good; after download and install "completed", the VST2 version of Vinyl is gone. Only VST3 is there now, this is not nice at all.
I have custom paths configured in Native Access but they work flawlessly with other NI plugins.
What's going on? I already tried uninstall + reinstall, to no avail - VST2 is missing in action.

I may have to stop supporting this company. They are crazy and disrespectful of their customers (see also they updating Play Series instruments making them incompatible with K6...).zvenx wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 9:37 pm All NI products will eventually drop vst2.
Part of the vst3 agreement.
You nay have to stop updating.

Ok, you want to stop supporting VST2, but start with brand new plugins, not existing ones...
Or release new versions that can live side by side with the older ones.
VST2 to VST3 automatic replacement is not - yet - fully functional on all daws, Jeez...

If you want to keep a Machine for VST2 you should avoid Updates in these Days and/or just keep the latest VST2 versions installed. I know its not the perfect solution but its surely the only one... as time moves on.

VST3 specification was released already in 2008, and the latest update on the spec was in 2017, version 3.6.7. VST2 was made obsolete back in 2013; so it's been quite a long time already. It might be annoying, but this is how it goes..

Is this a valid reason for deleting VST2 plugins from my HD without any warning and information and breaking some projects in which I potentially use them? I don't think so.sakarik wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 7:12 am VST3 specification was released already in 2008, and the latest update on the spec was in 2017, version 3.6.7. Luckily I resisted updating my Komplete 13 to 14.
Where is it written that the update dismisses VST2?
I looked at the Vinyl release notes within Native Access before updating, no notice at all.
And... from here:
https://www.izotope.com/en/products/vinyl.html
VST2 is still mentioned.

Maybe is Native Access only supporting VST3 now?

I just added Komplete Start to my Native Access 2 and installed Vinyl on my Mac.
Vinyl.vst in my VST folder, but the VST2 version isn't showing up in my DAW because it's Intel only.

It could be a Windows only glitch then... or... I have specified custom paths (and they're valid) and Native Access is screwing up with them.jamcat wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 7:44 am I just added Komplete Start to my Native Access 2 and installed Vinyl on my Mac.
Vinyl.vst in my VST folder, and the VST2 version is showing up in Studio One.
Thanks for checking.
EDIT: Mac test above did not apply due to not being Intel.

iZotope installers are still here. For example Vinyl 1.12.1 which contains VST2.

Are you sure? It seems the size of the installer is the same as the one downloaded by Native Access, around 76MB.ChristianH1 wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 9:02 am iZotope installers are still here. For example Vinyl 1.12.1 which contains VST2.

So, one of the two:
- The installer does no longer include VST2 at all
- "Naive" access disregards VST2 installation even though the installer has it

I am sure that iZotope's Vinyl 1.12.1 installer for Windows contains a selectable checkbox for VST2.
