Seems like a strange reason to me.

Surely a customer loyalty discount would apply to all your customers, email sub or not?

It could just be tied to your account if you’ve purchased one of your plugins.
The answer was no. Move on. You are getting a QRS for $74.
And who are you?

Are you part of the dev team/company?

Post

Why do people want everything for almost free these days? When you buy a car and next model comes, do you expect Porsche will give you 50% discount just because you own another model or...? :/

A lot of software devs offer loyalty discounts.
And Porsche offered me a great discount on my butlers car, so I’ll have to respectfully disagree.

I imagine if they were going to offer loyalty discounts, then pricing would've been $149 regular price, $99 intro offer for everyone, $75 loyalty offer for existing customers. So if you want to feel good, pretend you're already getting the loyalty offer. It's just...everyone else gets it too.

I have their earlier Quantec emulation already which is (speaking about the hardware) supposed to be an updated version of the same algo basically...

they can ask for their plugins whatever they want, but I'm certainly not going to pay full price for a different version of the same reverb. I also bet both share quite some code.

Plus, had this new Quantec existed when I purchased Evolution, I'd certainly have much rather purchased the QRS instead and I bet I am not alone with that.

Hans, knowing these Quantec reverbs as well as you surely must, what are your feelings about the QRS vs. the Yardstick? Are they very similar or very different?

Is the Yardstick a higher quality version of the QRS, or does it lose some of the magic?

Which one would you want if you were stranded on a desert island with only one reverb?
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

The sound of this reverb makes me want to write songs with saxophone solos in them!

C'mon, you just want to sell later on with a margin.

There is a lot of detail we could go into here, but in general I would summarize the differences as:
  • The Quantum Room Simulator (1982) contains seven different room size algorithms, while the Quantum 2772 Evolution has a single fixed-size algorithm. These different room-size algorithms are not simply "scaled" versions of one another, but are designed uniquely for each room size.
  • As you change the room size, the resonant modes and their behavior change as in a real room. Check out audio demo #20 to hear a good example of moving across the seven room sizes.
  • The limited bandwidth of 10kHz (20,000kHz sampling rate) actually makes a huge difference in the sound. This is similar to a comparison between the Lexicon 224 and its modern iterations.
  • The overall topology of the reverb is different. With the Quantum 2772 Evolution the initial "pulse density" is more dense, so it tends to sound a bit less grainy and less vintage. Again, think vintage classic 80s verbs vs their modern counterparts. On the other hand, the Density mode on the Quantum 2772 Evolution can sound stunning when adjusted to acoustic sources.
  • The new Quantum Room Simulator also offers some expanded presets in addition to the original factory presets. These new presets modify the internal parameters of the algorithm to match the characteristics of several real-world spaces. (if you are comparing to the original hardware, please do not use these new presets as a starting point, as the internal parameters have been modified. Please use the Factory Presets or Default Room).
  • Like the original hardware, Quantum Room Simulator is configurable for Quadraphonic! If you have a surround setup, hearing your favorite synth in Quad through the Room Simulator will put a smile on your face
If the Quantum Room Simulator is a U47 into a Neve 1073, the Quantum 2772 Evolution is more of a DPA 4006 into a Millennia.

Awesome plugin. I like the GUI being faithful to the hardware, however, could you increase the tonal contrast a touch between the pink/red led digit display and the grey/blue background? Those parts are tonally close enough that it creates a bit of an optical effect and it's sometimes hard to see the values (and I have a good display).
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Same thing in cubase pro 11
We are looking into this specifically with some Cubase configurations and hope to have it resolved very soon. Please contact support@savantaudiolabs.com with your specific OS and DAW info and we will work to get it sorted out asap.
Thanks. This occurs when resizing the gui and the plugin is fine at default size. You once again made a home run, this enhance mode at 10k is just stunning !
