My vote for best exchange on a forum in a long time.
And a toast to all the job creators.

I'm seeing a 65% discount off both Pro-R 2 and Twin 3, with one or other or both, selected in my account. Sale discount is typically 25%, so that's where I'm getting £37 from. edit: £50.40*0.75=£37.80macmuse wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 3:23 pmRight now I get a special 65% (not 45%) off in my account, and don't remember what goes on during Black Friday. You're saying it's another 25% on top of the regular 45% discount?PieBerger wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 11:39 amI have everything and I agree £50.40 is a little steep for an upgrade, especially when you can buy any Valhalla plugin for $50 all year round. With the 25% discount during BF/winter sale, it will be £37, which is a little more palatable.kelvyn wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 10:30 am That update price for previous owners who have almost every FF plugin - MB & Gate are missing - is a little steep IMHO
Just have to weigh up the pros and cons considering the plethora of other verbs one owns. At €30 it would be no brainer without demoing.

This is just a “meh” for me.
Other than the IR synthesis (which is very cool), I’m not seeing anything that differentiates it from any of the millions of other generic reverbs out there.
For starters, reverbs in 2023 shouldn’t even have knobs and filters and envelops and frequency graphs. They should have 3D visual representations of resizable rooms with source and mic placement within the room, and selectable materials and humidity. That’s what a reverb actually is.

That sounds as pain in the ass to actually use in a mixjamcat wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 9:16 pm This is just a “meh” for me.

Pro R2 looks like it is very well thought out and enables the user to dial in the settings in a short amount of time. I don't need fancy 3D stuff for everyday work. But that's just me.

If you say reverbs has to be that way where is your reverb? Who the f are you to say how reverbs should look or behave.jamcat wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 9:16 pm This is just a “meh” for me.

When you’re dialing in a reverb with knobs, you have no context whatsoever. So you’re probably not even thinking in terms of acoustic space or where your sound source is within that space. Instead you’re thinking about an artificial reverb effect in artificial terms. So if I’m doing a reverb *effect*, I’d rather use a Lexicon effect processor.ralfrobert wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 9:52 pm Pro R2 looks like it is very well thought out and enables the user to dial in the settings in a short amount of time. It’s pretty hard to “dial in” a player in the back quarter of a 10x20m wood room with a 5m ceiling and a blumlein mic pair of mics in the front third of the room using reverb effect parameters. But are you even thinking about it in those terms when you’re using a reverb with parameters like predelay, size, ER level, density, decay, and mix?
Those settings have their roots in the earliest digital reverb effects that were trying to recreate plate reverbs, not real spaces. Processing was limited and digital displayed were small. They were extremely simplified and difficult to program. But we should be way beyond that in 2023.

I like that on Pro-R there is just one size/length parameter and all the settings on it sound good. On reverbs with more settings there is also usually a bit more back-and-forth to get nice combinations.
I guess like many I'll be waiting for Black Friday to play with the update/custom-bundle prices...

Predelay is for convenience.
Size is absolutely an acoustic property.
Distance is as well.
Brightness is as well.
ProR does reverbs well
