Another big limitation is that you manually have to bank between banks of 8 tracks.
This makes single-fader DAW controllers really cumbersome to use since you can't just click on a track in the DAW and automatically have the fader control it. You first have to make sure your DAW controller is on the correct bank of 8.

Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

This reminds me of a discussion on the Cakewalk forums. I asked about the HUI implementation, because the firmware of my Novation Impulse keyboard makes use of it, to provide functionality for controlling the mixer in DAWs which support HUI, and, there were some issues, as they didn't implement HUI full in Cakewalk (it's still in beta), and, they argued that HUI was a protocol from the stone age, and that MCU is fully implemented. But, looking at this thread, it seems like MCU is also pretty much stone age.
Really about time that both DAW and plugin developers implement more MIDI 2.0 functions, that we don't have to have such discussions about obsolete, half-implemented protocols anymore.
See you in 20 years.

Yeah that certainly was a limitation, but it seems to be related to specific daws and controllers, as SSL UFx products with Cubase no longer have this limitation due to a firmware/software update.AdvancedFollower wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 1:13 pm Another big limitation is that you manually have to bank between banks of 8 tracks.

I have a X-Touch which implements MCU very well. The only thing I would like is to be able to colour the channel strips [which the X-Touch can do if connected to a Behringer mixer].
