I hope I won't trigger you with my personal thoughts here, but only measuring success by sales is the most effective way to become depressed, burned out and lose faith in yourself. For almost 15 years I've tried to figure out what sells the best and why. After 15 years I am still almost completely in the dark. Some things just work and catch the wave of inspiration that's going through the aether at the moment. From where I see it, your only job as a sound designer is to make the best possible art you can. What happens after are things that are way beyond your sphere of influence.

Just do the best sounds you can. That's all you can do really.

@EnGee, true about catching aliasing inside the plugin not after. I'm really not sure how that Oversampling plugin works or when it's best to use it.

I‘ve bought almost all of your soundbanks, they are very useful to produce music and are no earcatchers, that won’t work in your tracks.
Also Audiotent could be a good inspiration, they often sell soundsets with midi for a real insane price, but I think they are successful in techno and melodic techno

I really don't know how a plugin or a DAW can fix aliasing, rather to prevent it from happening. This is what I understood from Urs (U-he) few years ago in a thread about aliasing here in KVR.

Personally, I don't use such plugins (anti aliasing) but if an instrument or synth I like introduces aliasing (lack of oversampling, which most old synths), I try to avoid extreme modulation or high notes. My ear would be the judge. I don't mind if aliasing happens but not that audible, so for me it is not a big problem really. Sometimes, I just like some old synths and I don't mind some aliasing!

As far as I'm aware (please correct me if I'm wrong) but oversampling pushes the Nyquist frequency higher up, so effectively you are getting less reflections (aliasing) of the signal back in the audible range. But those artifacts are still there just less or not audible.

But, seriously, it can definitely add to the sound. Not sure why it has such a bad reputation. Sure, it can be hindering in some regards, but, it can also suck to have ultra clean high definiton sound, without any soul in it.

I gladly help you out. Write me a PM and we'll take it from there. But as I said, I have pretty much given up on trying to make sounds as a successful business. The only real correlation I've ever found is quality. Good sounds, no matter what genre, will always attract interest. But anyway - let's do this privately.
