Huh. Do people love this one? I listened to the hardware comparison video and my take-a-way was that while I couldn’t tell the two apart, I also didn’t like the sound of it.

Why oh why do some companies create trial versions that cut out after a few seconds?????? This is especially frustrating in a reverb plugin. I’m demoing right now - would like to demo more but aaaarrgghhh, there it goes again - and am caught between wanting to purchase, whilst at the same time feeling super put off by the c-t o-fs, so much so that out of principle I feel inclined to forget the whole unit.
Oh well!

Yeah, I hate the instant annoyance plugin. Give the user a solid amount of time, like a week or so, of just being able to use the plugin. Maybe disable saving presets, though even that is a bit much, IMO. Then after the trial period is over, let the noise or drop outs begin.kelvyn wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 3:15 pm Why oh why do some companies create trial versions that cut out after a few seconds?????? I like the method used here. I had the opportunity to put the reverb in a project, save settings, reopen from one day to the next with a fresh impression. I was demoing Quantum Evolution for a month, and fortunately the QRS popped up before I bought. Certainly I don't like a trial period which ends completely. I suppose a super-generous dev could phase the dropouts in after a week, or so many hours of use.zerocrossing wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 3:24 pm Yeah, I hate the instant annoyance plugin. Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

What’s your DAW? Some, like Bitwig, include ways to modulate any parameter that’s exposed via any audio source.simmo75 wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 4:01 pm I wish there was ducking, any plans to add it?
Also, will it be made ‘Wide Blue Sound Silencer’ compatible please?

I’m using Live 11, I just think it’s an essential feature on a modern plugin reverb.zerocrossing wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 4:34 pmWhat’s your DAW? Not sure if Live has anything like that, but while I agree with you, it’s an emulation of a specific reverb device, so I can see why they left it out.simmo75 wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 4:41 pmI’m using Live 11, I just think it’s an essential feature on a modern plugin reverb.zerocrossing wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 4:34 pmWhat’s your DAW? Using the REF module should give you what you need so you can focus on picking a reverb for its sonic characteristics.

I have their Yardstick emu which I thought I'd love (so I purchased it without even testing) but now I don't know what to do with it... it just doesn't really seem to fit for anything I try it on...zerocrossing wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 3:00 pm Huh. I assumed I'd love the (more vintagy) QRS more, but listening to the video I have basically the exact same reaction to it as you have.
It's weird: my most used algos right now are Palace and the shorter Sonsig ones, which are all Quantec-based, but the real Quantec stuff appears to be dramatically overrated to me now.
Probably just a matter of taste after all - but it seems cold and artificial and lifeless to me, for lack of better words. (It's as if it wants to be especially realistic and dramatically fails for the same reason.)
