I've downloaded a BUNCH of the Aspen and Sketching VST3 instruments that I can't figure out how to install into my SO6.5 DAW so that their libraries/sounds show up. I have a folder on my data drive called .dll VST's where I simply copy the .dll files into this folder and let the DAW scan it. So, the instrument itself shows up, but no samples, or presets, and I can't find them anywhere in the files that I downloaded. What's the problem? Where do I find them? :?: :? :?

You might get help from someone who happens to be familiar with those plugins and possibly also where you got them from, but as I have never heard of them and have not been able to find them because they have names that are common words, I recommend that you let us know what they are, who makes them, and where you got them from.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

VST3 instruments are not .dll, those are VST2

VST3 instruments are labelled .vst3

On a PC VST3 plugins always install to C:/Program Files/Common Files/VST3 folder

On my PC VST2 plugins go to C:/Program Files/Vstplugins

Usually sample data would be installed in a default location - doesn't the installer show the location you when installing? It would usually create a folder with the plugin or manufacturer's name in C:/Program Files/"manufacturer name" or perhaps in C:/Users/"PC name"/AppData/Roaming/"manufacturer name"

Let me check in C:/Program Files/"manufacturer name" or perhaps in C:/Users/"PC name"/AppData/Roaming/"manufacturer name".
Thanks,
George

I tried looking for the mfr. in the file folders but I couldn't find anything, and I tried to search for it in your database catalog, but none of my searches produced anything.

I've had vst3s that were install packages and you just click the icon and it will install. Still others where you put it in your folder and it installs when you open it.

are there not installers or installation instructions with those vst?

Right, I think you mean bigcat instruments aspen brass that are not vst3 and most are available in 32bit only with a few also available in 64bit.These are actual vst2 plugins but they are made with a program called maizesample and so the files and folder need to be placed in a particular order.

For example; the Aspen Bass Trombone - 64.dll file and the Aspen Bass Trombone - 64.instruments folder need to be in the same folder as one another. To achieve this, I would extract the contents of the downloaded Aspen-Bass-Trombone_64.zip file to Aspen-Bass-Trombone_64. That folder will contain everything you need and can be placed wherever your DAW can find it. So to get you started put the .instruments folder in the same folder where you have the .dll file

I'm guessing the sketching stuff is also by bigcat but a library for a plugin sample player called,
Kontakt (by Native Instruments) and that will probably run in demo mode (for 15 minutes only before you need to reload it) in the free Kontakt Player if you do not own the full version of Kontakt.

Thanks Bob, but I KNOW, that I KNOW that's EXACTLY how I loaded them into my Steinberg/ VSTPlugins folder, but the sounds never showed up.

Try running you're DAW as admin, Windows 10/11 have weird admin rights issues sometimes where programs won't work properly unless you run them as administrator, you can also try to see if they load fine with savihost if they load fine there your DAW probably has an issue with Maize sampler vsts

The older maize plugins worked fine in savihost but the new ones vst3 have missing gui.

I never download the new ones.

Aspen GM Soundset - Win 64 is the only one that has 'presets' which consists of 24 .mse files in the Aspen GM Soundset.instruments folder.

The rest have only one preset which is a single .mse file in their respective .instruments folder.
Aspen-Bass-Trombone_64
Aspen-Clarinet_64
Aspen-Cornet_64
Aspen-Trombone_64
Aspen-Trumpet-1_64
Aspen-Trumpet-2_64

If the instrument has a GUI when loading, then all the files must be in the right place otherwise you would see no GUI but would get a message saying, "Cannot find any instruments".
A couple of other points;
I cannot find any vst3 versions of the 'aspen' plugins by bigcat.
Many of these do not play the full range of notes shown on the keyboard.

This image shows where the files and folders are on my pc and are working on Win10 in FL Studio;
