Hi,
I'm looking for software that would tell me a little about the notes that I'm playing, like whether it's a chord and whatnot.
I have a digital piano in my livingroom that does this, but nothing at my workstation with my DAW.
Is there anything out there that you know of?
I guess VST would be ideal....

Cubase has „chord track“ that does what you are looking for, Ableton can detect chords in audio tracks.
And Plugin Boutique has a Plugin called scaler that can detect chords.

Studio One detects chords by analyzing any Audio/MIDI track(s) you select and displays a chord track. You can then change the chords in the Chord Track and Studio One will intelligently transpose your audio and MIDI to fit the new chords.
Studio One also displays the chords you are playing in real-time. So does Pianoteq.

THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

You don't need to buy a whole new DAW for this.
Just on a quick google type search I found this https://www.hornetplugins.com/plugins/h ... ngkey-mk4/
Just type chord detection vst and go from there for others.

Thanks Guys!!
I might go with Scaler 2 as I had my eye on that a long time ago but forgot it existed.

Have tried those plus that one by Abyssmedia which is standalone mostly junk... If you are doing basic triads they are somewhat accurate but once you pound out some compound chords they are way off...
Best detector is one's own ear and if a person is playing the chords they should already know what it is... No need for anything else...

I like to use Moises app on my phone, it can isolate different instruments also.

So far, Scaler 2 is doing the job, but all I really need right now is midi detections.

I have the first version of scaler and followed the updates. It's mostly good news so I would recommend it. I have not used Scaler 2 but from what I have seen, it's pretty cool.laserbeak wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 11:34 pm Thanks Guys!!

Scaler 1 is amazing for chords. It also helps if you have an understanding of chords and progressions (theory). It has a detection part which is great. It monitors MIDI and gives you options as to what the chord is and what key it is in, based on all of the chords you pass through it. It will tell you, from the chords fed through, 4/4 of them are in c major or 2/6 of them are in the Bb major etc etc. Pretty useful. I am so happy with the first scaler I see not reason to move yet.

Scaler 2 does that, too. Depending on your DAW it just might need a bit of routing:laserbeak wrote: Tue Nov 07, 2023 5:20 pm So far, Scaler 2 is doing the job, but all I really need right now is midi detections.
