I adopt the 'woodworking approach' : I am not looking for new band saws, new circular saws, new routers. I have tools. It's UP TO ME to make use of them and be creative. Instead of dreaming about new tools that the consumer market offers.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Fri Nov 03, 2023 12:52 pm Seriously though Icarus 1.6 is still a heck of a giveaway.
I'll never use all creative aspects of Icarus 1.6 in my lifetime. But I can make use of it for creativity RIGHT NOW.

You are the one being defensive here. Tone2 is right to make sure noone is having or spreading wrong ideas about the offer: the original post didn't speak about Icarus 1.6, it spoke about "Icarus", which in everyone's mind means "the latest version of Icarus".chk071 wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 6:36 pmI don't know why you always get defensive over nothing. Nobody claimed here that it will be version 2.Tone2 Synthesizers wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 6:29 pm Please do not distribute rumors containing misinformation
And then what happens is, a free offer campaign suddenly turns into a huge drama because a handful of persons loudly voice their anger that they got an older version "only" that they weren't entitled to in the first place. So now Tone2 has to deal with this situation that was uncalled for.
You may not like the tone, but it's very clear that they have gone through such BS numerous times in the past, and Markus has already largely explained that, right in the first post.

They look like they thought they would get Icarus 4 on a 99% sale and for some strange reason it didn't happen, but they deny that it didn't happen

I hope Icarus V3 brings back MPE for VST3. Such a shame that mpe functionality was lost moving from VST2 to VST3. Didn't seem to affect other synths. I believe in Tone2, you can do it too!

I based my post on the CM picture, which clearly shows V2 and text, which says "...hugely creative instrument that retails for...", not retailed.lolilol1975 wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 5:41 am ...the original post didn't speak about Icarus 1.6, it spoke about "Icarus", which in everyone's mind means "the latest version of Icarus".

We notified Andy from CM about this. He apologized and answered that his editor had accidently used a wrong image. His editor should have used an image from v1.6. And he also answered that the difference is only hardly visible and there has nowhere been stated in the magazine which plugin will be included.
Andy also has been notified by us about the confusion they caused in this thread and he wrote that he wants to come here and do a post with an official statement.
I want to point out that we are not responsible for any misstake or the text and images used in the magazine. Please refer your complains to CM.
Once again: CM will NOT include a full version of Icarus2.
This thread might be locked soon...

Hi all, Andy from Computer Music mag here. Just wanted to jump in and apologise for any confusion caused by the image we (accidentally) used in our 'Next Issue' teaser page. I can confirm that, thanks to the extreme generosity of the Tone 2 team, we'll be giving away Icarus v1.6 in our next issue – and not Icarus 2. Sorry again for the incorrect assumption that we'd be giving away v2. We didn't spot the mistake with the GUI in our checks. We're a small team and do our absolute best to eliminate errors, but things occasionally slip through.
We're all extremely excited about this giveaway, and – as usual – we'll be creating all-new deep dive content in both editorial and video form to accompany this meaty free gift!
Thanks all,
Andy Price

Don't worry, there were no assumptions. Just speculations over parts of a (blurred) image. Speculations in terms of "wondering why" there's a v1 image if it's v2. Nobody here assumed or expected that it was v2.AndyPCM wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 12:09 pm Hi all, Andy from Computer Music mag here. Apologising and taking responsibility, even though there was no real ill intent shown here, shows a decent level of maturity, which many of us are lacking nowadays. Thanks Andy and good luck with your giveaway.

...The current full release version (v2.5) is normally €199, but rather than bringing you a lite version of this, we’ve actually secured the final build of version 1 (v1.6), and it’s yours absolutely free with this issue. What’s more our giveaway also entitles you to a heavily discounted upgrade path to v2.5.
Icarus 1.6 (VST, AU with M1 support via Rosetta) features three oscillators, two filters, four envelopes, three regular LFOs and one step LFO, with further sound shaping from three effect modules and output EQ. ...

To be able to run the full version you require a valid licence and a key-file.
keyfile is inc. in the zip but I'm not sure about the valid license

$ 69.00 is the price.

Just to be sure: upgrading (in contrast to buying a new v2 license) from 1.6 to 2.5 now also includes the upgrade to v3 later?
