You’re welcome! I look forward to doing the final bits and pieces on The Scream for final packaging, and turning my attention to new projects in 2024billcarroll wrote: Fri Nov 03, 2023 11:37 amThanks for your hard work, Andy!andy-cytomic wrote: Fri Nov 03, 2023 7:59 am Update: new Beta builds of all Cytomic plugins, including The Scream, are available from the web page that include VST3 support, as well as native Apple Silicon support.

Just a warning - this installs as a new plugin dll (scream.dll) (the VST2 version), so we'll have to leave the old dll (scream x64.dll) installed for backwards compatability - for old projects.

Are you sure? Indeed the previous one had a _64 suffix on pc, but in cubendo only the vst3 versions shows up which strongly suggest at least in cubendo that it will automatically substitute. And for sure on the mac the vst2 name remains the same.

In Windows, it's a new dll and Reaper sees it as a new plugin - I even had to re-authorise.
Of course the VST3 is new. I didn't check the file name.

I had to reauthorise too. I have had to in many of his recent updates too.
Easy to check. Remove the _64, put them on the desktop and open an older project which you used drop in and see what happens.

OK - I didn't think this would work..
Forgetting about the VST3 version - I removed the new version (the scream.dll) and saved a Reaper project with the older version loaded (the scream 64.dll).
Then I removed the older version and put the new (1.2) version back - and the project loaded with the new version
I didn't think this would work - since Reaper was loading both VST2 versions. I just assumed they had different plugin IDs. I don't know how they could both load if they have the same ID (but they did).
So I stand corrected - it looks like you can install the new version and remove the old one.
I'm keeping a copy of it though - just in case
YMMV

I updated the plugin name and removed the “ 64” at the end of the name, but if your daw needs that to load your projects you can add it back. The plugin has all the same internal ids.

That is the version in the current beta and will be final. No GUI changes before final release. At least, not based on anything Andy's posted about outstanding work. So I think we're safe to assume it won't change.c_bomb wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 2:46 am There was a green version of the pedal in the GUI teased a while back if I recall correctly, is that going to make into the final version?

World’s best emulation of the pedal and shows other companies the level of deep emulation possible with passion, dedication, and, of course, mad skills.

The current beta has the green UI. I am waiting till I’ve finished the manual / presets and audio / video demos before I update the web page.c_bomb wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 2:46 am There was a green version of the pedal in the GUI teased a while back if I recall correctly, is that going to make into the final version?

I'm starting to work on final presets for The Scream and wanted to share a mastering one to get feedback:
https://cytomic.com/files/forums/scream ... -drive.zip
I've made it a transparent subtle drive + tone pedal, with lots of headroom, and adding around -60 dBFS maximum harmonics for a 0 dBFS input sine wave. You can gain stage this, up or down, by using the input / output gain. For example you can use the input gain at -12 dB and output gain at +12 dB to get the loudest harmonic at -72 dBFS.
The pedal voltage has been increased to 18V for more headroom, so if you want more drive you can lower the power voltage. The high pass capacitors have all been changed to very low cutoffs, around the 2-5hz, which is typical for mastering equipment. The drive signal path high pass and low pass are wide open as well, so when using the drive knob it will add distortion across the entire spectrum. The drive amount, which is added to the "dry" signal is from around -20dB to 1dB for the drive knob from lowest to highest (which corresponds to "dry" + drive signal level of 0dB to +7dB). The tone knob has also been changed to add subtle treble boost or cut from around 8khz.
You can load this preset onto any channel, then open the Rand panel, and click "Randomise" to get endless subtle stereo variations.

This is a supremely fun preset to tinker with! Very nice Andy!
Indeed endless subtle random presets can be created and it's fun to simply explore the various things you can do with it. Thanks for posting this!
