I have an Audio-Technica USB turntable that I've been using with Audacity on a (Windows 10) laptop to record vinyls for many years without issue; however a few months ago I bought an M-Audio M-Track Solo interface to use with a hardware synth, and after trying the interface once (and subsequently disconnecting it), whenever I connect the turntable to my laptop it now only registers as the M-Track interface. Previously it appeared under Devices as 'USB Audio CODEC', while now it is only recognised as 'Line 1/2 (M-Audio M-Track Solo)', the same as the interface. While it is still possible to record from the turntable by selecting this input in Audacity, it records at a much slower speed/lower quality, with constant skips and lost audio data.

On other laptops which haven't had the M-Track connected the turntable is recognised as normal. I'm unfortunately not well-versed in computers so I'm unsure what's caused this issue in the first place, or how to solve it.

Use USBDeview to disable or uninstall the M-Audio driver.

I've tried both disabling and uninstalling the device with no luck. USBDeview shows the device name as 'USB AUDIO CODEC' and device description as 'M-Audio M-Track Solo' which may mean something, but I am still getting the same recording issues.

Do that while it is disconnected. Remove all usb audio devices. Then when you connect it again, it should surface as itself. Should... cross fingers...

I'd tried it before on its own with no success, but doing both that and the USBDeview uninstallation together seems to have worked now. I'm still curious as to what caused the problem in the first place though, especially as I'd like to use the interface and synth again eventually.

What happened? I guess a scenario like this.

MAudioDriver: hey device, are you there?
AudioTechnica: you talkin' to me...

Perhaps the main chipset of both are similar enough that they get mixed up.
