Arturia V Collection 10. Predictions.

My theory is Arturia changed their policy recently (in my case, with the update to V9) but didn't implement the restrictions for older products (going through all older licenses in the db sounds like more trouble than it's worth).

They did the SQ-80 because it's an iconic synth that is very different from others at the time. It definitely made sense to do. And at the time, they were awesome, and some bands glommed on to them hard. They were really common in electroindustrial. Plus, Chick Korea.Heartbeat City wrote: Sat Oct 28, 2023 1:30 pm The Ensoniq SQ-80 is okay. But it's nothing special compared to the synths mentioned above.
I would also argue it was special, the ESQ-1 was one of the first proto-wavetable synths and also a cool analog/digital hybrid. Digital synthesis with analog filters, very nice.
Why did they do the MS-20? Well good question (as opposed to the earlier Korgs). The answer might be the same as to "why haven't they done the Korg M1?" - maybe this is the one Korg let them do.
The Korg M1 and Roland D50 are probably the two biggest "why haven't they done these?" synths - far ahead of the DSI, IMO.

They probably did the MS-20 for the filter, using it in Pigments. As for M1 and D50, that's very problematic in terms of samples used by Korg/Roland, and they would need permission and cooperation to use their source code.

I owned an ESQ-1 from 1988-2000 and I disagree completely, for the types of music we were in to it was fantastic. Mileage and tastes vary I guess.
There's a reason it has a cult following.

yeah the sq80 V I have always loaded in my templates, I love this one. Great for new beat / front242 kind of stuff, at least that is what I use it for, and 90s techno riffs.
Would love a poly-evolver v btw (I had a PER+PEK for 8 voice action back in the day)
Or a Quasimidi polymorph

forgive me if this has been asked before - Im interested in the V9 stuff. Should I jump on the (hopefully) BF sale or wait if V10 might perhaps be coming in Dec? So, would there be another sale like BF when V10 drops?

If a good Black Friday sale for V9 materializes, jump on it.mckenic wrote: Wed Nov 08, 2023 3:25 am forgive me if this has been asked before - Im interested in the V9 stuff. Then, when V10 is released, Arturia will offer you custom introductory upgrade pricing. It always works out so that you pay more or less the same for the upgrade either way in the end.
If you wait, you'll pay what you would have paid for V9 + the upgrade to V10 from V9. But if you buy V9 when it's on sale instead of waiting, you get to use the V9 plugins sooner, and break up the inevitable cost into two smaller chunks.
So it's a question of if you should pay 50% now and 50% later and get to use it in the meantime, or pay 100% later and wait until then to use any of it.

Thank you jamcat! Very much appreciate the help and info.
The two smaller amounts as you mentioned really seems the way to go for me
Thanks!
