Wow I didn't realize they made synful free. I actually bought it was back around 2006 or so.
Is there a way to resize the UI?

If anyone is having problems with the VSC02 Percussion (Not working on some MAC's, here is a download link for SFZ instruments with the samples, which can be used in Sforzando or other suitable soundfont player. These are from the same sample set as were used in the plugin.
Size of the file about 123mb.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Pf3rbe ... sp=sharing
These are ok to use instead of the plugin if you need to. Note that they are not exactly the same, as the plugin makes a more refined use of the sample set than these sfz files.

Since we're already using two plugins (one for the orchestra and one for percussion), would be really great if we could also use a free piano. Then we'd be orchestra complete!

It's similar in Reaper. I think the only option is to automate them through assigned MIDI CC.perox wrote: Mon Nov 06, 2023 3:04 pm Anyone here using Bitwig? I cannot see or automate any of the Synful controls... only on/off...

Regarding the automations, I've found this max4live device (Ableton) which you can use to control the cc signals. The 'help' pdf tells you which midi signal is assigned to each mode control parameter. (e.g. expression is cc11). You can then assign these parameters to the ones you want to modulate inside the vst, and automate as usual.

The composition majors are going to come forward and humble the rest of us I'm guessing?

I’m not so sure. To make Synful sound acceptable requires quite a mixing skill.Negoba wrote: Wed Nov 15, 2023 3:21 pm The composition majors are going to come forward and humble the rest of us I'm guessing?
Years ago I was thinking about buying this VST. But as it behaves as a musical instrument, it doesn’t sound as such.

I think he wanted to say that composition is the key here, not mixing skills.
I like Deep Purple's old songs from 60s and I have lot of good other music with very bad mixing and I still love to listen them. Much more than listening new perfectly mixing and mastering background music with themes played on three notes.
You'll be surprised how many covers I heard of one band that sounds like they record their first album using single microphone in some basement. If composition is great then is great. Your ears can adapt to any type of sound in one or two minutes max. Too many mixing/mastering freaks these days, not enough composers.

Wow, a wonderful point of view, and I more than agree with that!PeterBPL wrote: Thu Nov 16, 2023 5:29 pmI think he wanted to say that composition is the key here, not mixing skills.

* however, I have to add that most of the mixing/mastering freaks in OSC are "The composition majors" at the same time, so they will still come and humble the rest of us!
So I suggest everyone just relax and write music from your heart, sincerely expressing themselves. This, by the way, is often the shortest path to victory!)

Hello everyone, this month I have a little more time to create a post and hopefully I'll post on time.
This is only my first test with Synful Orchestra not my entry at the moment.

Hello
Is anyone using Reaper here? Have you succeeded in routing VSCO2 to multiple channels?
The Reaper asks for that on the track adding, creating 16 tracks with routings, but all sounds are routed to only the first one of them.

I generally agree that composition is more important than mixing/mastering, and that ears quickly adapt. But the songs that place highly in OSC are always well mixed and produced. It's like a prerequisite. I would guess that people would have a ceiling of a 4 for badly mixed song, even if it is well composed, since it sounds amateur. And you need a lot of 5s to get in the top 5.PeterBPL wrote: Thu Nov 16, 2023 5:29 pmI think he wanted to say that composition is the key here, not mixing skills.

Funny I was listening to River Deep by Deep Purple the other night - and yes the production is pretty shaky!
