They've confirmed that IT'S NOT allowed to sample Massive X or any of their synths.

I understand if I can't sample Kontakt libraries, but syhths?!
To be honest, with the way sample matching is done automatically this can make a bit of sense.

People have been pulled up for using samples from packs that have already been used in another track.

Why would you want people to e.g. sample a preset and put a claim onto a tool you're selling to people. You'd want to be sure at least someone can use a preset and not get immediate issues when releasing a track.
To be clear, I asked specifically about sampling sounds that I made from INIT, not presets.

I fear they hired people who aren't up to the task running this company adequately while losing capable ones. I hope i'm wrong, but it does look like it to me. After worrying for years no relieve in sight. :(

I strongly disagree. From all that I've observed, 2023 has been a pivotal year for NI. There have been some deep underlying issue of technical debt are finally getting addressed.

It will still take time to shake it all out. But I'm feeling better than I have in ages about the future of NI.

How about releasing uni Kontrol 3 app that is compatible with both past, present and future NI Kontrol Keyboards…
PS; I still see Kontrol update to ver.3.2 even though it makes my KK MK1 kaput…

This is a bit of a shocker. Are they even legally in their rights to prohibit users from sampling their own presets made with a VA synth from NI?

It would probably never stand in court, bu that's their EULA.

I doubt that too.

You guys think we've seen the bottom of how low NI can sink yet? We've got ads in their paid software and now they are saying you can't make sample packs with your own sounds with their VA synths. It's clear that the majority stake by Francisco Partners didn't improve the experience for the end users.

We’d like to let you know that we’ve heard your feedback loud and clear, and will release an update to Kontakt in the next week or two that includes the ability to hide the “New Instruments for you” panel.

Our intent in adding this feature is to help people discover new instruments and sounds for Kontakt. We’ve heard from customers that many of them (especially those who are relatively new to music production) struggle with exploring the vast range of sounds and instruments that are available for Kontakt. The “New Instruments for you” panel aims to reduce this struggle – by providing suggestions from both third-party developers and Native Instruments in response to your searches.

We also recognise that for those of you who already have the instruments you need, this can be distracting. To that end, we are adding an option to disable the “New Instruments for you” panel in Kontakt 7.7.1 (along with a fix for a crash when replacing a loaded instrument or sample in Edit View), which we will release within the next two weeks.

Until this update is available, you can use the “Set current view as default” function in the VIEW menu to hide the “New Instruments for you” panel when Kontakt is running as a plug-in in a DAW. More information on how to use this function is available in this article: https://support.native-instruments.com/ ... 9260981533

In future versions of Kontakt, we’ll continue to work on ways that help people explore, manage and get the most out of their instrument collection. We’re working on things like audio previews and downloads for instruments you already own but haven’t installed - allowing you to get the sounds you need without breaking your creative flow. More to come.

Thank you, as ever, for your candid feedback. I hope this shows you that we’re listening to you, and that we take your feedback incredibly seriously.

If NI were listening they wouldn't have added it in the first place. They listen to sales and marketing people, that's it.

This is becoming a KVR habit - not accepting mistakes.

By Q2 2024 there'll be no companies left worthy enough to do business with.

i think the reason why they added it, in the above statement makes sense.
adding the option to hide it is a reasonable request too, glad they are doing something for both groups :)

It isn't a mistake, its a well panned direction. I think K7 is mess and a total rip off as an 'update' so I was always going to be hard to win over! I forgave Bigwig so I do have a heart, but with NI it is just one thing after another- ever since the Massive X launch its been a shambles.

Why do you think NI is even interested in trying to 'win you over'?

NI is far from perfect, but I am happy to see Guitar Rig get some love recently, I was truly worried for a long time they had given up on it completely. I know its not for everyone but I still use it all the time

They listen to sales, marketing people and social media. They are a modern company you know. And thankfully social media feeds on drama. Remember the Waves incident some 6 months back?
