Biggest issue with Synth Master 2 was that it was clunky and quite buggy. In short, it had "jank".
This is very much on point. Using SynthMaster has always felt like I'm wrangling with something made in '96. It has almost none of the quality of life and usability elements that synths started shipping with a decade ago. In short: It feels like a chore to use even when you know exactly how it works. I originally bought it on a whim because it seemed so good on paper, especially the SFZ import was impressive to me. But I never use it because of the "jank".

So that’s a no.

Early 2024 perhaps?

But to be fair, synthmaster is super powerful and has superb presets. It also has an iPad version which is awesome to sketch music on the go.
If on top on that it would have a great UI, it would certainly be number one....

Hoping so. We are doing our internal testing right now. The beta/sound design period should be 2 months so hopefuly in February 2024 we will release it.

Well, going by kvr discussions, that’s what everybody HAS to do. Otherwise, it’s an inferior product and overall waste of time. Urs has probably had to defend his stance that Zebra is not a sampler more often than there are stars in the sky. And how dare anyone release a synth without additive re-synthesis? Why isn’t a dedicated vowel filter included in every single synth? And vocoder? No synths can live without that…

My theory is that a lot of people who demand every synth to do it all, never buy any of them.

Most of them have some kind of copy/protection/subscription scheme, restrictive download/library manager or other thing that makes their otherwise great idea fall short of being a must buy. So many watch these threads, see either no change in that thinking or that it even gets weirder in some form of paranoid elitism and dismiss it on a regular basis. This one got me to originally dump it with the "everything" locked in preset bundles and download servers mostly based in a country that has it's own time to time paranoia.

Great synth that I find mostly bloated with wonky hoops to jump through at undetermined times for no real reason. Some beyond the developer's control.

But I still often read its threads with a grain of hope.

FYI: Our servers are located in the US (dedicated hosting provided by GoDaddy)

I know, and remember how much better they got after that happened. Unfortunately, the US has joined the paranoia with their own special form of it. Still not as bad as the first servers, but bad in it's own right. I was also speaking in a generality of the "do-everything" synth idea of most companies. My one reason for not using SM now is the locked in preset bloat.

Frankly I couldn't understand what you mean by "locked in preset bloat"

I use Synthmaster 2 on Linux (Xubuntu 22.04/Linux Bitwig 5.0.10) and it runs OK. Synthmaster 2 has its own range of sounds and character which in my tool set makes it a valuable tool.

The only thing I could say otherwise is that, since I run Windows VST inside Linux, the additional adaptive software layer that makes it possible adds more work on the part of the VST and in the case of Synthmaster 2, when compared to other Windows VSTs running in the same context, it's a bit slow on the UI side of things and the time it needs to set up. But once done, it runs OK.

Synthmaster One also runs, but can be a bit more sensitive. It seemingly does not have the exact same software foundations as Synthmaster 2.

When a VST developer announces optimizations in a release, it usually shows clearly when running Windows VSTs in Linux.

Cheers.

We've discussed it before. And you're not the only company I've dumped because of it.

Sorry, I don't remember the discussion. Anyways, have fun with what you are currently using...
