Ubuntu HAS the grub menu. You just need to know how to access it. :)

Sometimes Ubuntu tries to simplify things too much for the user, and it ends up being a hinderance. :)

If you know the required lines to inject GRUB option to the boot sequece then that would be useful for those interested in doing this.
What the hell did the Ubuntus do now? No grub menu? /slap

Do you know whether you use BIOS or uEFI? Either way this helps with getting the menu once:

My apologies! I didn't notice your URL link. I didn't realized that you had already answered the question. :)

As highlighted in that thread, I managed to get access to the Grub menu ( Holding Shift on Boot ) and navigate the options but none list Windows 10 which is on a different drive.

I'm not sure if having Windows 10 on the SSD would enable the option to pop up on the Grub menu as it would be on the same drive as Ubuntu. If the Grub script could be enabled to identify Windows 10 on a separate drive then that would be the preferred option.

My system uses the older type BIOS, it doesn't have the uEFI type.

Can you do `update-grub` and post the output here?

It should scan for different operating systems and then include them in the grub menu.

New problem, Ubuntu has lost connection to my audio interface. Situation occurred when selecting the options from the drop down menus. My Focusrite Pro 14 hardware, was working but is now missing from the menu to be able to reselect it. It's picking up the HDMI audio port audio and onboard motherboard Spdif instead for audio output which is useless to me.

Trying to use the command | systemctl --user restart pipewire.service just flickers the light on my audio interface.

Fixed the audio problem by visting this site and by following this tutorial which requires some instructions in the terminal.
It's made some changes and from testing it out, is more reliable when switching different options. I don't see the Multi-Surround graphic speakers that were initially there before, but I am getting option to select my Audio Interface and select Pro Audio which is what you want as multi-channel output provides a glitchy effected which is probably to be expected.

In the terminal I entered this pressed enter and then Y | sudo apt install pipewire-media-session- wireplumber

Do check this thread out in any case for more info.

From the Terminal:

Note, selecting 'studioone6' instead of './Studio One 6-x86_64.deb'

requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies.

I do not remember having to install any dependencies, I used the "GDebi" package manager which I had to install first as it is not available in Ubuntu by default ......sudo apt install gdebi -y

When it has installed right-click the deb file and choose Open with Another Application, then select Software Install from the program list. Studio One should install and appear in a menu.

Also, check that Wayland is working.............echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

Thanks, I tried that and Weyland is working. I tried the alternate way to install / get Studio One to run and presented with a popup window with some info about Studio One, however when I try and install, I'm presented with a another popup window saying I'm missing dependencies.

I dunno, I've updated Ubuntu with the latest updates and still no dice.
After I posted this morning I booted the Ubuntu Live CD and used the Gdebi installer to test it and it worked great. Took a few minutes to install Studio One, much like a Windows install. Gdebi will sort out all the dependencies for you.

I'll have to format the SSD and re-install Ubuntu again as I've broken it where it doesn't boot at all now. I have Ubuntu still on my USB Stick so it's another case of reinstalling Linux. The Joys of Linux / Problem solving. :x

On the bright side, my 7.1 Surround Sound Headhones arrived today so I've to test those out. :) On Windows 10 ofcourse.

Been wanting to leave Windows ever since their heavy-handed attempt to force users to switch from Windows 7 to 10. The only thing holding me back was that I like Cakewalk/Sonar which is Windows-only. Unfortunately, the free Bandlab Cakewalk requires W10 for updated versions. So I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to Windows 11, only to find out my old hardware isn’t supported.

I’m happy to report that the move to AVLinux and Reaper has been very smooth and easy. I’ve been exploring U-He and Tal software, which are working well on my old machine. And much to my surprise, by using Yabridge, I’ve had no problem using some old rgcAudio plugins that I like a lot: Z3ta+, Rapture and Dimension pro. Even more surprising, some ancient 32-bit plugins (specifically dr008 and SynCModular) work even better now than they did in W7 with jbridge. So at the very least, linux is proving to be a solution to software and hardware that gets abandoned by Windows and Mac’s walled gardens.

I’m using a class compliant UMC204HD and haven’t had any problems with setup and configuration.

Well, I'm back with a fresh reinstall: 64 Bit Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS,
GNOME version 42.9,
Windowing System Weyland
Using a Radeon RX 570 series graphics card

+ Everything that mentioned updates in the fresh install have been downloaded and installed.

------------
gdebi was installed sucessfully vie the instruction on this site and checked to see if it was installed.

https://linuxhint.com/install-and-use-gdebi-ubuntu/

So followed your way and there is no luck. I then tried the terminal and got this.

~/Downloads$ sudo apt install ./Studio\ One\ 6-x86_64.deb

Can someone make a thread on the Studio One forums about installing Studio One on Ubuntu and fixing this. I'm lost on how to fix this without breaking Ubuntu. ( I got banned by a egotist mod, so can't post there now)
You need to upgrade to Ubuntu 23.10

Thanks, that explains it, how infuriating.

I found a tutorial on how to upgrade it.
