Hey guys,
I'm really interested in their plugin, I see that it's not at 50% off (https://www.uaudio.com/uad-plugins/inst ... order.html), but I never got any plugin from UAD so I don't understand if it's a real sale - I see that on every plugin there's a sale ranging from 20% to 70%.
Would you pull the trigger now, or maybe I should wait for Black Friday for a possibly better deal?
Thanks!

Ok cool thanksroman.i wrote: Sat Nov 11, 2023 12:28 pm Their plugins are 50% most of the time.
So, no. Wait until it becomes $29-39 on sale + thank you coupon.
How can I get that thank you coupon please? I signed up to UAD newsletter and to get emails about deals, is this enoguh?

Got it thanks, just one last question - are those sales being offered by UAD directly on their website? Or somewhere else?roman.i wrote: Sat Nov 11, 2023 1:59 pmIf you purchase a plugin, you may get the thank you coupon for your next purchase, expire date 1 month.sir-haver wrote: Sat Nov 11, 2023 1:51 pmOk cool thanksroman.i wrote: Sat Nov 11, 2023 12:28 pm Their plugins are 50% most of the time.

In my opinion, and I only say this to try to save you money: the UAD Studer is not a great sounding plugin. It's an early take on a tape machine (it's well over 10 years old and was built to run multiple instances on their old DSPs), the saturation looks and sounds like a bog-standard waveshaper, and there are better options available if you want a tape type of sound. It gets harsh very quickly IMO and that harshness builds up. I'd save the money for something else.
UA has mostly excellent plugins, but this one isn't one of them. The Ampex ATR-102 plugin (which isn't native yet), is much better sounding IMO. Note: their Oxide plugin is based on the Studer so expect more of the same there.
I think you'd get more mileage out of the IK Tape Collection (which is excellent but crazy CPU intensive) or something like U-he's Satin.

Oxide is a greatly simplified and more developer-tuned emulation to make the plugin easier to use. Oxide was also recently on offer for little money. I have also heard from many that Ampex is another step forward... but currently not yet available natively. I currently use Slate Tape and Oxide. But the biggest audible effect is the EQ mode, e.g. in the European CCIR mode, otherwise the tape plugins are almost all rather subtle.

The UAD tape stuff is some of their weakest (including the Space Echo and Echoplex emulations), I wouldn't bother. You can find a used license for U-He Satin or any number of other tape plugins for a better deal.
