To be honest, though, I think the "cult" factor of hardware is much, MUCH bigger than with software. Naturally, because, people can relate to something physical much more than to something virtual. Regardless of the many advantages of virtual in this case (and other cases).
I used to be hardware only but I was not aware of the presence of a cult in the 70’s or 80’s. Perhaps I was not expose to it.

Moreover, I see you are using Ableton, which is an obvious demonstration of your blindness to beauty.
I don’t think you are qualified to utter the word Ableton. :help:

The last really exciting thing was Massive X, sound wise.

You know. Features, all nice and stuff. But, what I really am after are musical instruments.
Happy you, you freed yourself from GAS.
Congrats.

Maybe I expressed it inaccurately. Let's just say that you can build more of a relationship with something physical than with something virtual, naturally.

Yes. I remember when I had to get rid of my gear.
It was difficult because they were with me in my music journey and many concerts (in Italy). It was not in the instruments themselves but the experiences they provided, especially in my “past life” in my country.
Yeah, I can’t download them!

I actually fully agree but I wonder if "younger generations" will feel the same about things....
Arguably, many of "our" generation is less attached to our land. 50 years ago people where not travelling, relocating as today (or at least not willingly). While far from dead, the attachment to the land has reduced.

Similarly,, I grew up eyeing of the collection of vinyl of my uncle and was dreaming of doing the same for CD. Now, my kids think I am old-school because I have an hard drive with music and don't only stream it.
Similarly in our current discussion, even if some love hardware, a lot of people prefere software.
I grew up dreaming about owning a ton of synths and now I am part of the ITB fan....

Is it a global trend or just a few bad examples?

I don’t remember what I sold the time I sent the picture to
u-he for the Zebra discount when it was first launched :hyper: , maybe was my DX7? At that time I guess I valued software more :D (the DX7 was purchased here in the US and had no sentimental value to suffer over it )

I see more and more young musicians using Eurorack and alike, so maybe they soul can be redeemed after all :hihi:

The last GAS was a Mother 32 and a Minilogue… oh well

Sex with the machines.

That's a songtitle btw.

edit: it's just a joke, it doesn't mean anything.

Your first version of the messge was "to feel so for you" which I am sure was the real intent

What is clear is you looove serum :-). Good for you.
it was intended to be “so sorry” but I want to be less dramatic :dog:

You just can’t hold yourself in demoting Serum but it took 4 years for the Unfinished to get it, so we need to be kind with you because you may never get it indeed :hihi:
I don't demote Serum, it is a very nice piece of software.
I see it a bit like a ferrari testarossa if you prefere, a work of art... But not the cutting edge anymore.
How old are you?

Sure.
But I have to say that the way of defending Serum here is mostly by attacking the person, not the message (I am talking about my earlier questions, not my lame jokes)

It shows too.

So far I didn't see any proper argument to defend serum, a part from the ones I gave myself.

Oh yes there was the quote about the oversampling of the oscillators.... Which was of course an argument that was really valid in 2014...

I just realized I paid for Vital Plus. No regrets. Just reinstalled it and played around for a bit. Still works great. If it's abandoned, eh whatever, no biggie to me, I still like it. It's not as if the $25 was a waste.

If it's not abandoned, then cool!

Serum is great, I don't understand why these two are stacked up as if they are rivals. Why is there a need to "defend Serum"? Both are really good.
