Okay Mr Perfect. We all have a problem and you don't.whyterabbyt wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 2:03 pm I dont care in the slightest whether someone else has too much gear, too little gear, the same gear as me, different gear from me, suffers from option paralysis, obsesses with optimisation or minimalism, doesnt use their gear for making 'enough' music, makes different music from what I like, doesnt make music at all, uses junk, spends all their time chasing the next big thing, or collects gear expensive they never use. I have my gear for my reasons, and do my stuff with it, my way, when I decide to, create what I want to create, and enjoy that. Other people's reasons and decisions arent even slightly relevant to any of that.
It really is remarkable how few people there are here who are secure enough to respect other people's choices. So many folk here seem to desparately need to validate themselves as being the arbiter of the One True Path, and just dont seem to be able to cope with life unless they're up on their soapbox, trying to diminish or undermine anyone who has a different opinion. Its f**king sad, it really is.
Should we ditch VST/AAX instruments altogether?

If that's how you decide to misinterpret 'we dont all have the same problem as you say we do' then knock yourself out. But actually you're just underlining my point.

Arguing on forums, always being right, and having the last word. Must bring you a lot of peace too. Or maybe not?whyterabbyt wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 2:48 pm Im afraid I havent really reciprocated in any conscious way, but whatever helps you make peace with yourself.

says he, arguing on a forum
,, always being right
says he, insistent that he's right
says he, trying to get the last wordand having the last word.
Im kinda neutral on it, TBH. It does root out a lot of self-unawareness in folk, it has to be said. And a lot of folk who just devolve into ad hominem.Must bring you a lot of peace too. Or maybe not?
betcha that wasnt your last word, amiright?

You wrote a quite lengthy text for someone who:whyterabbyt wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 2:03 pmSaying other people must have the same problems as you do isnt 'acknowledgement' or 'awareness'.egbert101 wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 1:59 pm I'm not judging. I have my own addictions, problems, things to deal with life. Music happens to be one of those things that helps me deal with them. However, addictions can get out of hand, as well all know. So it's better to acknowledge it and be aware of it, than not.

Maybe the nail on head was too much for your to handle...dont care in the slightest whether someone else has too much gear...
As I said earlier, there's no "vst police" to knock at your door when your ssd card will choke after you'll install your 7th Kontakt harp library.
Feel free to catch as many vsts as you can, just don't take it personally
On a side note,
I'm working on a cover for this song:
What drum vst I need in order to have the exact drums sound of the original?
I'm just gonna replace the word "pokemon" with "vst" and all pokemon names with different "nexus, kontakt, halion, serum, etc.." but other than that, I want it to be as identical as possible

I can type quickly. You maybe wanna be careful about making even more silly assumptions.Bippo wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 12:20 am You wrote a quite lengthy text for someone who:Maybe the nail on head was too much for your to handle...dont care in the slightest whether someone else has too much gear...
Oh I absolutely would, if I wanted to, except for the fact that I primarily use eurorack hardware. You maybe wanna be careful about making even more silly assumptions.Feel free to catch as many vsts as you can

I hope that I made some of you ponder a little bit about this whole concept in some deeper level, and maybe reach some new conclusions.

New conclusions, no.
Old conclusion, yeah - a troll's a troll.
Only difference is you're sitting under a different bridge taking a dump in the same river.

Plugins need a real preset system again, not these cheap gui preset systems where you have to click on the little pieces. Whoever invented these was evil and dying.
