I would enjoy to read a clear statement about cpu problems and the upcoming Avenger V2 by the devs / Rene and or Manuel. Are these addressed? Can I test a demo version before upgrading? What is your position here?
Really looking forward to buy it, but mainly because these fixes. This is much more important to me than any new features. I want Avenger to be uable as a real workhorse/workstation synth in my projects, not being annoyed about those nasty cpu spikes anymore.

Rapid is great...but Phaseplant blows it out of the water. Polyphonic/per voice fx is just a breeze in that thing.pizzatime1 wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 12:33 pm
Having loads of options is great but wavetable wise I have never heard anything better than Rapid with its per voice fx.. a bit of detune on the oscillators and the per voice overdrive then chorus-x and the sound is totally psychedelic.. sounds a tiny bit generic to me Current, a bit like Vital but then the granular and sample part is much more advanced than Rapid.

When I tried it I did like it and considered buying it but thought the filters and FX are just ok and apart from the granular part I would just be better using Bitwig for everything else.

The grid is almost limitless. But phase plant is more immediate and with a funnier interface. A question of taste I think.pizzatime1 wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 11:52 pm When I tried it I did like it and considered buying it but thought the filters and FX are just ok and apart from the granular part I would just be better using Bitwig for everything else.
I also like to compose instruments through layers of polymers in the instrument layer module.
Architecturally that's very similar to an Avenger for example.

Indeed. Phase Plant, fx are just ok, far from vsti like Falcon, Rapid. Even Phase Plant filter are weak. There is no arp or seq. Manage layers gurantee you an headache.pizzatime1 wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 11:52 pm When I tried it I did like it and considered buying it but thought the filters and FX are just ok and apart from the granular part I would just be better using Bitwig for everything else.
Rapid each layer it's a separate synth with it's own fx, arp, seq, modulation. In the same way like Omnisphere.
The good point for Phase Plant, Update and upgrade are free

Are you taking into account EQs like carve and slice eq?
Phase Plant is not for analog emulation, so it doesn't have a ton of filters emulation, but it still have a very solid variety of filters and EQs.

I own many top vsti (Falcon, Omnispehre, Softube, Spire, Rapid, Phase, Melda MSoundFactory etc...) and few hardware synth (Summit, Virus Ti2, Micromonsta 2, Jupiter XM)Jac459 wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 2:58 amPhase plant filters just ok? So I can compare.
I believe filter doesn't have self resonance, volume and bass compensation.
When a dev iclude a ladder filter, yes it's for analog emulation.

I guess in KVR, most of us can compare with a too long list of GAS-acquired gear. That's not the pointGam456 wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 3:20 am I own many top vsti (Falcon, Omnispehre, Softube, Spire, Rapid, Phase, Melda MSoundFactory etc...) and few hardware synth (Summit, Virus Ti2, Micromonsta 2, Jupiter XM)

My point was to say that in general, when in a synth you have a lot of filters, it is due to analog emulation. If you take Spire for example, all their filters are modelled toward a specific famous filter. That is NOT the intent of Phase Plant, they do a bit because it is useful but it isn't there target. Kilohearts is neighbour with Softube physically and they are friends because they address a totally different market.
Now if you want to get crazy, with crazy shaped filters, to do your neurobass favorite, you won't find a lot of limitation in Phase Plant, you have plenty of simple filters and then Slice and Carve are very very powerful.

I thought this is an Avenger 2.0 thread, it has turned into a Rapid /Phase Plant thread lol
Well, as to fx of Avenger it is matchless imo, the quality simply blows me away.
So I wish the upgrade should also include a VST version to be able to use Avenger 's fx only, it would be awesome

Agreed. Not all users have maximum computer specs(32-core, 128 ram etc.) to play Avenger light and simple. I hope they will take it into account.Lbdunequest wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 8:42 am Nice! tho avoidance of answering to RAM and CPU use worries me a bit![]()

Is it really that bad? I never used Avenger but you guys make it sound like it's close to unusable on a medium specced computer.Stan Navi wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 8:54 am Agreed. No it is not. I have medium/high specs laptops (I had an m1 and now an m2 pro) both run avenger with no issue.DrGonzo wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 9:01 amIs it really that bad? On some presets, they have a few spikes though.
