Thank God I wasn't drinking something when I read that as it would've come out of my nose.

NI need to up their game.. Guitar Rig is great, al the other stuff is low-res dystopian hell. Having said that; I think Playbox is great. I did get it for free. Would not have payed for it. But I do think it's great.

Amplitube with the Tonex add on beats the snot out of Guitar Rig.
IMO Reaktor and Kontakt remain their best products, as it always was.

I don't get Romplers? I wouldn't mind if they just hosted them directly in Kontakt or Reaktor but not being able to dive in and really destroy the mix and match romplers makes them near useless to me.

I don't use guitars so I wouldn't know.

If you did, you may find it's not an accurate blanket-statement anyway - it depends on what sort of music you do for one thing. Guitar Rig is infinitely better for ambient stuff, for example. I find navigating GR better too.

Given that it doesn't sample its not a sampler- Its a Sample Player.
Halion Samples....even has an autosampler.

Guitar emulations are definitely a matter of personal taste, I prefer Helix, Scuffam and A5/ToneX over GR6 for bread and butter guitar tomes but there is some fun and creative stuff in GR6 (although I see nothing in GR7 that makes me want to upgrade). I consider GR more of an 'FX Rack' like IK or Soundtoys offering...has some amp sims, but that isn't it's strong pint IMO (as they haven't added much with the new modelling tech yet, I felt a bit misled as a GR6 buyer!) but it is a great general FX rack (although I had most of the FX standalone anyway, but the rack is worth having for convenance)

What I am saying is I don't care what sounds better for 'real' guitar sims, because I use Guitar Rig as an all purpose FX rack with multiband and parameter modulation capabilities. For that purpose I find it awesome.

So essentially you don't use it for its intended primary purpose, you don't care if it's an accurate guitar sim, but you claim it as a positive for NI, got it.

I think that's what he meant...

Reaktor is still one of the best software modulars, Kontakt is still one of the best samplers, and their effects (Replika, Dirt, Raum etc.) are my go-to before anything else. If anything, this is a discussion where we can complain on the highest level.
I said we don't want it to suck, I think it's fair to say that we all agree on that. What we don't agree on is the degree to which they suck at the moment. Some of their newer products, like the ones you mentioned, are fantastic and do not suck. Others are starting to suck or have parts of them that have always sucked.

The point is that we want NI to put users first, but we're sad and angry that they clearly have different priorities.

No. I don't think they "suck". Again, you're exaggerating. I would still get your point if you weren't exaggerating.

Nonsense. If you don't put "your users first", then you simply won't sell anything.

Again, this is an argument I read often, same as "they don't listen to their users". Why not just say what YOU don't like, instead of pretending to speak for everyone? You are not THE users. You are A user.

As you can see in the way we disagree on such points.

Since iZotope is now NI, a general brief moan that doesn't deserve its own thread.

Far, far more than NI (you know, the old original bit of NI that is now part of NI), iZotope products have gotten ever more unremarkable. In particular RX used to reign supreme, but now its barely an also-ran. That's one thing, but it hit me today on the BF sale - not only have they stopped all innovation, all their good deals have gone too.

I used to get bombarded with crazy cheap upgrade deals all the time. Now they want to charge me 5x what they used to for products I no longer want to update.

I dislike the joint bundles as I already had izotope and PA stuff…I don’t want it again and get no discount for already owning it. I don’t have half the stuff that came with ultimate 12 installed, irs just too much and I never used most of it…just have the few things I use on my SSD. Still, I did upgrade to K7 today for 40 quid, not that I particularly wanted to, but at least I can update the sounpacks I do use now…
