CPU usage for me is not much of a problem, but RAM is, because Avenger uses insane amount of RAM per instance, im maxing out RAM (32gb ddr5) faster than my CPU (r9 7950x).DrGonzo wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 9:01 amIs it really that bad? I never used Avenger but you guys make it sound like it's close to unusable on a medium specced computer.Stan Navi wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 8:54 am Agreed. Not all users have maximum computer specs(32-core, 128 ram etc.) to play Avenger light and simple. I hope they will take it into account.

Does it ? Just checked on mac with a random heavy sequence from Cyberpunk2, another instance with an ARP from same bank and a multiloop from guitar 2 bank.Lbdunequest wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 9:06 amCPU usage for me is not much of a problem, but RAM is, because Avenger uses insane amount of RAM per instance, im maxing out RAM (32gb ddr5) faster than my CPU (r9 7950x).DrGonzo wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 9:01 amIs it really that bad? With these 3 additional instances playing in the same time than my current (heavy) session, I move from 12.49GB before loading these 3 instances in total memory usage (macos) to 12.59GB.
I guess that's acceptable no ?

Not on PC, 1 instances weights ~1 gig of ram. I just opened 2 init patch instances, uses over 2gb of memoryJac459 wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 9:31 amDoes it ? One thing maybe is that it is reserving memory because it finds there is memory free.
A lot of applications/programs do that, if the system lacks memory then they release for the others.
What happen if you open like 20 instances ? You should be out of memory no ?
That means you are forced to bounce every time ?

There is no definitive answer to this, since we dont know the computers the users use. This can be all kind of old systems, new systems, laptops all with different OS, graphic cards etc... but: the CPU and RAM should be better with 2.0 since Rene optimized a lot here (for some users at least, because most didnt have problems so far... incl. me if I may add: I still use a almost 10 year old PC - all my sound demos with multi Avenger instances were made on this - no problems at all). For sure it has not become "worse", despite all the new features).

I imagine it all depends on the sample buffer size you use.. I use small sizes, Manuel i believe uses 512.
That said, on my macbook pro apple silicon, it hasn't been much of a problem now even at 128 which is my new default sample buffer size.. However if indeed Rene has optimized, i am looking forward to it.

Just did a quick Ram check in Cubase 13. These are closed init instances, RAM GB, Win 10.
0 - 0.6
1 - 1.18
2 - 1.75
4 - 2.68
8 - 4.53
16 - 8.23
32 - 15.62
So you can see it settles to about 0.5gb of RAM per instance.
Opening the GUI of an instance adds about 0.2gb of RAM.

Yes, because you're on PC / windows. It's a whole different story on mac. Hoping for improvements with v2.msvs wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:34 am most didnt have problems so far... incl. me if I may add: I still use a almost 10 year old PCthis - no problems at all). My pc is old, too, so it gives me hope that v2 will also run properly on my system.msvs wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:34 am There is no definitive answer to this, since we dont know the computers the users use. Btw I sometimes run 8 instances of Avenger in one project with no issues.
You once posted there won't be a demo version, so it could happen someone buys the upgrade and it won't run any more.
What do you offer in such a case?
I am looking forward to buying v2, cuz the new additions and features are awesome, but I am a little sceptical as to whether v2 will work or not. And it's hard to find out beforehand without a demo.

like I said, v2 performs slightly BETTER than v1. So if v1 worked well, v2 will. Its the same core.

Looking forward to this release. I will be using this in Logic. I am assuming the arp/sequencer can output midi to my modular synths? If so, Logic was recently updated to allow midi out from plugins which should do the trick. Unfortunately, there is currently a bug where input notes double up because of this functionality. NI are aware and working on this, hopefully the devs are aware of this as well?

From what I've read, logic now having midi out from plugs is just part of the bug so don't get too excited!dirtboy wrote: Thu Nov 16, 2023 8:42 am Looking forward to this release.
