Parawave Rapid Discussion Thread II

Dune's developer (Richard) is pretty good about replying in the Synapse forum. I really like Rapid and have built a lot of presets for it, but they are definitely slow with the updates and communication. I just really want the custom MSEGs. The sequence drawing though gets you part of the way there.

Happened to me with Alchemy (when Camel sold to Apple), my only fear is they sell to Apple! Zone (a great synth by Audaire) sold to Slice and no more development after that...DJErmac wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 4:29 pmNo regrets here also so far, but I must say I’m a bit worried that they could close for good, because activations when reinstalling...SLiC wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 2:48 pm Rapid developers are very quite (on all platforms, facebook, twitter etc) but the synth still works great and sounds great. No regrets here.![]()
And since it’s one of my mainly used synths, this could stop me from doing a fresh new setup if activation isn’t guaranteed to succeed...
Parawave, are you still around please ? Is everything OK ?![]()
Rapid is a great synths and works as it is, If the developer decided to pack it in he would probably sell it to another developer or even open source.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

If they said they would make sure version 1 always worked I would happily pay for a V2 with extra features.. the sound is just really special, all the newer wavetable mega synths just sound so polite somehow in comparison to me..

Its developer also dont communicate much.zeph wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 1:59 pmTotally agree with your comments. Only this time, we will NOT be FOOLED by Parawave's promises that amount to NOTHING!!!.pizzatime1 wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 1:34 pm Being cynical they will probably post on here just before the black Friday sale that they don't know why people keep saying it is abandoned as it is still supported and a new update is being worked on.. then it will be silence for months.. hopefully not as it is still a great synth that could be made even better..
This synth is dead along time ago![]()

Parawave lost their voice months / years ago. They do not even bother to speak to their customers at all, on any platform, even if it is just to check in.
These guys are gone!!!
Its time for all of us to accept that it is the end!!!

Rapid has been updated. Ok it’s not an update full of bells and whistles with crazy shinny glow stick features but it’s still in development, so please stop that ´it’s abandoned’ nonsense and keep the thread on track for people who want to keep discussing Rapid for real.
1.8.8 - 19. November 2023
NEWEST Additions:
Display the current value when setting a sequence step.
Fixes:
Improved slow preset loading in Ableton with VST3 caused by many parameter changes, especially with connected MIDI hardware controllers.
Adjusted note trigger timing, for loop cases, that resulted in note drop/hang in some DAWs.
Text Editors in Edit Window wrongly lost their highlight when using mouse clicks.
Adjusted HiDPI UI scaling for some DAWs.
Restored compatibility for some Windows 7 SDK versions.
Changed mouse cursor hide behavior for AU in Logic & GarageBand.
Avoid crash during activation in ARM64 host caused by message window.
Updated general compatibility for VST3, DAWs and OSs

Personally I'm glad with the update, as they fixed the slow preset loading which was an issue for me, so no it's not a 'joke' like you say even if that fix doesn't concern you.
From some of your perspective, it's a catch-22. If they don't update it for some time, some you whine there is lack of updates. And when they do, well still bad cause they did it out of the blue just for Black Friday.

That's the reason why developers like u-he win the KVR awards. They are transparent and open about their ongoings/developments, what's next and what to expect (even if takes longer).
Parawave on the other side locks their thread, doesn't reply to emails (mine), and releases an update (while 1.9 should be in the works since 2+ years), without any public communication.
I'm quite sad, since I think the product will maybe die slowly. It's really a good synth in workflow and sound, buts since no further communication means in my eyes, there's no big interest in keeping the community alive and hoping for a release soon.
I mean even Tone2 announces new development updates regularly, even though he is not well and doesn't want to go to the forums anymore. I can fully understand that.
Hopefully Parawave will come back and comment what's up/cooking, if it would mean we have to wait another few months till 1.9 or 2.0 whatever comes out.

To be honest I'm a bit disappointed that it's not the 1.9 update but still happy to see that the project is not abandoned. And a stability release and support update is always welcome. Thanks guys!
