Bounce-in-place is there now, at least on a per-track basis.

Freezing entire tracks != bounce in place. So no, it's not there now.

Nice try but no. If you want the same workflow, you have to duplicate the track first and then freeze and flatten it or you have to freeze the track, then drag the frozen audio to a new track, then unfreeze it. That is not even close to selecting a clip and pressing a single button to create a new audio file, while keeping the original track in tact.
it will be better in the future…

Thanks but I checked this out already in the past and I'm not interested in clunky third party workarounds to what should be very simple features to implement, since all of the requisite sub-functions already exist. I don't think it will be better in the future, they've had over a decade and still nothing, not even a hint that they will add features like this in.

I've done quite enough grumpy old fart posting for today, so I'm going to check out and stop polluting this thread further. For all those pleased with the new features, I wish you productive and happy music making!

Great update! I will definately use the midi / piano roll features and the UI improvements sound awesome!

I would very much like to have customizable key commands, ARA and a couple of other nice things but those aren't deal breakers for me. I also use Reaper, which is probably the most customizable DAW ever and I really find it useful for game audio and game music, the exporting features and asset randomization add-ons alone make it A LOT quicker in those workflows than Live, but for my own music I like Live a lot more because it's just much more streamlined for making electronic music.

Every other DAW I've tried has actual deal breakers that make me want to stay with Live and Reaper.

Also, it's kinda funny that every major DAW update forum post is full of people complaining.

PieBerger wrote: Tue Nov 14, 2023 5:53 pm Bitwig is better at being a simple, stable, functioning DAW and these are the reasons why I think this. It's relevant to the discussion, because a new version of Live has been announced and it is still missing the most simple of the aforementioned features and it's frustrating because I would like to use it more, but it feels like such a potato by comparison.
This the exact type of comment I was referring to. I have both DAWs. I prefer to use Live. It must be that I prefer an unnecessarily complex, unstable, ill-functioning DAW, then?
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

I also use Bitwig and Ableton and since getting Push 3 (Standalone) it has swung back to predominantly Live 11...I think Live 12 is only likely to 'boot up' Live more than Bitwig moving forward. I also find Live simpler, much prefer the look of the less cluttered GUI and can the Live 'packs' and 'racks' are worth the price of entry alone.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

This time I think I will get into M4L and begin to write my own devices since the Pianiroll's new tools are open to M4L programming.
Yes, it will take some time, but being my primary DAW for my music, it will be enormously valuable.

Sorry if this has been asked / answered:
If I don’t buy a new Live 11 Standard licence but rather upgrade from Live 11 Lite to Live 11 Standard, am I still eligible for the free Live 12 Standard upgrade? Thanks

Honestly, I'm a bit pissed. There are so many things that should have been added in 11 updates an the time between major updates (which are not thaaat cheap) are way too short......

Post

When was the last time any DAW had a universally praised update? One where the majority of users were content? This is so tiring. And the amount of entitlement among users of all DAWs regarding missing features is incomprehensibly strong.

Reaper. Because you only pay about $60 every five or six years and there are continuous updates every other week.

Are you safe?

IMO you're kicking water uphill, and for that I don't feel sorry or like commiserating. If you know not everyone will like an update or upgrade to any DAW ever, then it's like stating water is wet. Are we all supposed to love every update for every DAW that ever happened? or are we supposed to like the updates that you personally deem good? Yes, there will always be people who take it all too personally, but you tone policing them is just another kind of gate keeping and entitlement, no way around that.

I’ll update from L9 now.

Gonna go back and read the rest of the thread. Hopefully lots of folk have pointed out how Bitwig and Reaper are better 🫶🏻

Nope. There were complaints with the V7 release. Not me of course. I'm a nice appreciative guy that shows decency and respect
