So the SX3 update is here. Good job Steinberg.

We were promised an SX2 update before the end of December...which leaves 1 week exactly, and somehow I don't think Steiny are going to be working over the holidays.

Are the days of updates rapidly diminishing with Steinberg now? Once they release a new version (which is more and more quickly) the old ones seem to be ignored completely. One release, 1 update, then a new version again :x

I don't expect older versions to have new features incorporated or anything new in fact...but they stated very publicly that a bugfix version was going to be released.

So what odds will you give me for the promised SX2 update? 100:1......200:1........keel-over-with-a-heart-attack-when-it-happens:1?

 ....weeeeeelllll, my excuse is I couldn't get into the Cubase site for the past few days, so how was I to know?

So, have they introduced any new bugs into it?

I remember that there was some kind of announcement when the new Cubase SX2 patch came out, that amounted to: see? we're not abaondoning SX2. I don't really understand Steinberg's overall strategy with Cubase SX2, SX3, and Nuendo. I wonder what Yamaha will do with it all.....

Aaaah, good old Steiny...never fail to deliver, eh?

It did a weird one on me the other day too. I loaded up a completed song that worked perfectly, just to redo some minor edits and maybe a bit of a remix. No sound whatsoever, after a couple of crashes and reboots. Finally found out that the ASIO driver wouldn't load for some weird reason, but it wouldn't recognise it when I tried. So I reinstalled the driver and after another crash, it finally would load the driver, and off it went back to its old reliability. No idea why the driver unloaded in the first place :? It was an old Cubase VST song...maybe that had something to do with it. But all my other old VST songs loaded OK, and now the glitchy one loads OK.

I actually wonder maybe if it was WinXP rather than Cubase that was the problem...I still don't trust XP. In some ways it's a great improvement on 98 (which I was using up until very recently) and other times it boots up very dodgily.

Anyway, everything works fine again now :)
