I will replace those + buttons with settings buttons because when the user clicks they can do multiple things:

KTlin wrote: Wed Nov 15, 2023 1:40 pm And another question, one that I also asked in the facebook group but I didn't get any answer: does SM3 feature some kind of visual feedback for the modulation system so you can easily see which parameters are modulated and how much (the color rings around the knobs, for example)? SM2 has this feature but I don't see it in the SM3 screenshots you uploaded here or on the fb group.
Of course we have those carried over to SM3, and I remember this question was answered in the FB users group as well. The below image has real-time visuals for:

knobs
keyboard zone view
velocity zone view
wavetable view
lfo view
filter view
mod matrix sources (on the right hand side)

I disagree,SM2 is so intuitive you can dream for something more easy, just use more right half of the mouse to add modulations, every knob give you immediately source-target - via modulator.
Can't remember any other synth to be so easy for complex modulations, but i personally have problem with inspiration working with SM2 ,can't say why,it's my first pro synth i bought many moons ago, know it very well,it's the big brother,it's more powerful than SM1,but still in 90% of the time prefer sm1,probably the gui is somehow more friendly and inspirational, can't say,but for sure what was mentioned above, the sub osc used as modulator is a candy.
This option is superb and will be dream to be extended somehow with other options, for example osc modulator's fx chain or something.

That's great! But it doesn't answer my question about the maximum number of oscillators, filters and modulators that can be added on each layer.

Very happy to hear that! And no, my question wasn't really answered in the fb group. Another group member replied to my question saying that because SM2 has the visual feedback for the modulation system he's quite confident that SM3 will have it as well, but that was that. Anyway, thanks for confirming that SM3 will have this feature! :tu:

Since the current architecture is "dynamic", the upper bounds can be set freely. For now:

Max layers: 16
Max modules per layer: 16 (excluding operators)
Max modulation sources per layer : 32

BTW, the realtime graphics performance on Windows is now going to be much better, since I managed to upgrade to VSTGUI 4.3 (SM2 was built with VSTGUI 3.6) 3.6 was using GDI+ whereas 4.3 is using Direct2D

Modules can mean oscs, correct? I think somewhere you mentioned the most possible oscs (in one layer) when combined with other types of modules, but now I can't find it.

So that means you can have, in one layer, for example:
- 4 oscilators, 2 filters and 10 modulators
Or
- 6 oscilators, 4 filters and 6 modulators

Is that correct?

Awesome!

I'm really glad that you implemented this kind of dynamic/semi-modular arhitecture! Love it! It enables you to create wayyyy more complex and more interesting and expressive sounds. I'm pretty tired of the limitations of the fixed-arhitecture synths. So, kudos for going this route!

Thank you

I think this puts my architecture somewhere between "semimodular" and "modular" :D

That sounds very promising. I love the way SynthMaster sounds, but I always found the GUI rather clunky. Hopefully, this will be improved with SM3.

I decided to "pre-order" SM3 by getting the Everything Bundle, and I look very much forward to the release. Keep up the good work

Sale on the Everything Bundle is tempting.
