I've got 1 synth workstation, 2 electric guitars and 1 acoustic guitar, I would say I'm far from being a HW SnobD-Fusion wrote: Wed Nov 15, 2023 9:31 pmAre you sure it is not you who have become addicted to hw and has turned into a HW Snob that is the problem?Bippo wrote: Wed Nov 15, 2023 8:52 pmBecause members of this forum has become addicted to chasing after vsts instead of actually stick to one and learn its inside out and creating some music.Uncle E wrote: Wed Nov 15, 2023 2:22 am That’s all of KVR Audio. It’s literally what this forum is about. Your opinion is valid but why bring it up here?
Just now I saw a new thread titled "Anything new from Spectrasonics this year? Maybe an upcoming soundset?"
WHY THE FK YOU NEED ANOTHER SOUNDSET WHEN OMNISPHERE ALREADY HAS MORE THAN 14,000 SOUNDS AND I BET YOU COULDN'T RECOGNIZE MORE THAN 200 OF THEM EVEN IF YOUR LIFE WERE DEPENDENTT ON IT FFS![]()

Again. You don't need to go into Vst Bezerk shopping mode if you want to have a limited and focused setup (Just buy what you need and be happy)![]()

You know that without pop music the whole industry will be much smaller and less profitable thus resulting in less companies who creates vsts.
...maybe that's the solution

You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

Which you "know" because........Bippo wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 2:47 am I mean, songwriters these days tend to work like clerk in front of a laptop with an endless amount of sounds and instruments under their fingertips.
That has became the most common way to write these days,
Your thread title is poorly worded in a variety of ways and frankly absurd (spoiler alert: the answer is "no"), but there is something to be said for "less is more" and not getting caught up in a zillion different virtual instruments, patches, etc for some "great sound" and focusing more on the actual notes being played, which I think or hope it basically what you are trying to say. I think this is more common in "electronica" (EDM, "trance," whatever) vs more traditional genres of rock, folk, jazz, etc. There for the most part the only VIs you'll see are guitars, bass, drums, basic key sounds like Rhodes, wurlies, pianos, etc...more commonly for jazz, things like sax and trumpet...more commonly for folk or country, a "fiddle," and so on
VIs offer pros and non-pros alike a far more efficient and economical way to make music, offering possibilities that for many wouldn't otherwise even exist. You don't need a ton of them, but it's foolish to try and limit one's self to a minimum either. It all depends on what you're trying to do.
