Post

Just about to go out but I'll do that later this afternoon

I put the broad strokes here though (last 3 posts) - to start you need to go inside the original installer (right click/show package contents) and swap the distribution.dist file for this one which has the OS version check removed:

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Post

1) Fix installer so it doesn't flag up an unsupported OS - rightclick on latest installer version (from NI website here https://www.native-instruments.com/en/s ... &t=updates) - select 'show package contents' and swap out the distribution.dist file for the one in the attached ZIP (previous post)
2) Run installer (obviously you will need to use the rightclick/install method to bypass Gatekeeper) - if you have your original install DVD it will ask for this - if you don't you need to mount a copy of the original iso installer, which used to be available from the NI website but I can't see it anymore on the downloads site, but PM me if you have a problem there ;)
3) Once installed activation should be just a case of copying your serial from https://www.native-instruments.com/en/m ... downloads/ and entering into NA. However I found that while it did accept it at first I still couldn't see Kore 2 in NA, so had to close NA, then manually copy over a couple of files from Carbon Copy Clone of Mohave (com.native-instruments.Kore2.plist and com.native-instruments.Kore2.plist.lockfile from Library/Preferences), then reopen NA and activate it again.
4) I couldn't install most of my sound packs as they are packaged with InstallerVise, which doesn't work on Big Sur but I found you can bypass that by copying the files over manually and then using the same trick of copying over the .plists to make them show in NA, then entering the serials from my account. The file locations for these are:

Sample content goes in Kore 2 Sample Content
Libraries go in /Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Shared Content
Soundpack files (with a .ksp extension) go in Shared Content/Soundpacks and
The Pack sounds go in Shared Content/Sounds/SoundPacks (apart from the ones for Absynth, Massive and FM8 which go in their respective folders)

If NA tells you it needs these relocating then point it to those locations once you have copied over the content

I didn't install the hardware drivers - those will not work - I plan to use Kore software as I did under Mohave by creating a midi template for it in Komplete Kontrol and mapping the XY to my Lightpad Block

It's crashed a few times on plugin scan though - I may end up creating a dedicated VST folder for safe plugins

I am over the Moon that I found this post! I’ve managed to install my Kore 2 on a Mac that I installed Mavericks on so as to make sure the hardware works as well and after a few days scratching my head and getting tech support from NI, I managed to install Komplete 6 and Kore and authorise it all, but 1 big problem now is that I don’t have my Kore Soundpack installers that I was certain that I had backed up! What are the chances good man that you have installers that you can share? I have it registered on my account, so it shouldn’t be a problem getting it up and running.
Thank you so much in advance! 🙏🏻

Sorry to revive this thread, but has anyone recently had luck registering the Kore 2 serial number in Native Access and been able to download the .iso file? Unlike the screenshots from the beginning of this thread, Kore 2 in my account does not have a separate download link:
Screenshot 2022-11-11 185856.png
When I try adding the serial number in Native Access, however, it just hangs when "Registering." Is there anywhere else on the NI website where I could perhaps download the .iso?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Damn, I just switched to a new system and have problems with Kore Player. It installs correctly in W11, updated to latest 2.1.4 version, I can even activate it via Native Access 2 somehow, even though I can't see it on the list.

Problem is, it only sees the factory library. No way to show the soundpacks in my Library SSD, even setting the correct path. I'm sure it's not a matter of compatibility, cause Kore 64 bit works either in standalone and in Cubase 12 and plays the sounds correctly.
Any hints would be much appreciated! :help:

AFAIK you need to run the soundpack installers since they put some extra stuff to registry and some file somewhere... I haven't yet figured out what is additionally needed to make things work - installers seem to do it.

The problem is you ca t activate old versions of Massive, FM8 and Absynth, so everything is working in demo mode and you can’t edit these sounds, only Reaktor 5, Guitar Rig 4 and Kontakt 4, Battery 3 can be registered and can be edited in Kore2.
The support says that it’s an old product with no support, they don’t want to add these activations to native access - so no half of my sound packs can’t be edited

That's only true if you don't own newer versions of Massive, FM8 and Absynth. If you do, there's an option to tick in the settings to allow those newer (and activated) version to replace the ones that can't be activated.

Found a workaround.
This works if you are doing a system migration and already have installed soundpacks in the old machine and sound content somewhere.

In my case, I could install Kore and update it to the last known version (2.1.4) in Win11, which is a 64bit version and will work with the latest DAWs also. It just couldn't see the expansions and their relative installer wouldn't work for some reason.

I found there's a path that stores a bunch of folders with .ksp files in it, which work as an index for the sound content. No ksp = no library shown in Kore Player.
There's one folder for each expansion. Just pick the needed ones in "\Program Files (X86)\Common Files\Native Instruments\Shared Content" and copy that to the new system. Now Kore will load the expansions.

Then:
even if Native Access won't list the legacy products like Kore, Battery 3, Kore expansions etc..., just add their serials in "Add Serial" and they will go off of demo mode.

You can’t edit kore sounds with newer versions, than kore2 crashes

The key to all this is having the old plists. I remember this whole trip from late 2018, the last working installation I had of Kore 2. When I quit Kore for good in 2020 I no longer had any access to older installations; it seems to accept the S/N but Kore doesn't show in NA and that was the end of that story.

Post

Great job describing all that!

Kore 2 doesn't crash here (running Windows 11 with the Kore 2 controller plugged-in). Kore library presets, synths banks and soundpacks open fine in their respective plugins.
