VertiVerb VRS23 is a faithful simulation of the Dynacord® VRS 23 (Vertical Reverberation System) , an early 80s BBD echo and reverb.

This unit uses 10 BBD chips in a complex cascaded matrix to generate both echo and reverberation.

As stated by the manufacturer, back in the 80s, the VRS23 incorporated a “newly developed” reverberation structure which avoids the “cellar” effect found in early reverberation units. This translates in a peculiar mixture of delay and reverberation that made the VRS23 a truly unique device.

We went further and added new features like FBK and CLK (Clock) trimmers, allowing you to fine tune the feedback amount and the BBD clock speed.

Luca, just curious, but is the CE-2 still in the works? Would really love to see that. I really dig the CE-1 once I get the gain staging right (seems like level 28% on that one is right around unity).

A few questions/FR's if I may that would apply to this one too:

1. I'd love to be able to enter text values on your plugins, particularly for the input/output gain knobs where I want to dial in exact settings. Example: double click input knob and set -9db. Double click output knob and set +9db.
2. It would be cool if Shift+clicking or Ctrl+clicking input gain would gang it with the output gain and vice versa so we could easily tweak the gain staging
3. What reference levels are your plugins made for? Should I be targetting peaks around -14dbfs?

No modulation on synced delays? Is it meant to be like that?

No matter how long testing goes, there will always be something -_-
The modulation should always work, while only DELAY EXT should not have any effect while in sync.

I'll get this sorted out on Monday.

Now that I have a decent compander, I could start working on a new lot of effects using it (including the SRE-555, which is long overdue).

About the text entry, i'll implement it in the next update, along with the previous bugfix.
Yes, around -14dB is a good value for this unit.

Now that I have a decent compander, I could start working on a new lot of effects using it (including the SRE-555, which is long overdue).

I have an RE-501 (same thing) so would love a version of this as everyone only models the 201.

Hmm... I was expecting to love this but it's just not my thing I guess.

(Also, I feel like slowing the clock down is too clean. With an underclocked BBD you either get aliasing and clock whine, or the echos get really dark due to filtering.)


But I'm a big fan of Tube Modulator and Plexitape, and I also like Electric Mistress once in a while, and checking this one out prompted me to try out some of the others... and I wound up grabbing Xenoverb
