From October until the following September, they just change the name of it...

I was in a Costco in early October and they already had Christmas stuff out. I'm an atheist, but I do love all the trappings of the Yule, but it does no one any service if they make it so long, it stops being special, and by the time the 25th comes around, you're just sick of it. Meanwhile, Fox News will be complaining about some imaginary "war against Christmas," when every year it gets more and more intrusive. When I'm emperor, Christmas decorations will not go up a day before November 26th. I HAVE SPOKEN!

I live in a subtropical city and it is odd to have all that nordic Xmas stuff here. Out of place. Santa better put some wheels on his sledge.

Where's that petty dictator thread gone?

The war against Xmas has name on this side of the pond, and that name is Winterval. Totally made up by the gutter press of course.

Yes, it is summer there at Xmas time :)

All rain here during the winter, but we can drive to snow. There was so much snowpack that we were able to have a snowball fight in July. People were skiing, but we only ice skated. Thanks, climate change!

It was supposed to be the Friday after Thanksgiving in the US, for brick and mortar stores.
But people would camp out in tents, sometimes for days, and then fights and near riot conditions would break out when the doors opened.
So stores now spead it out over time a bit to reduce the pressure.

There's no real reason for software to have Black Friday.
