I will say that if they sound the same, I would opt for Savant, because using it should be pretty much a 1:1 experience to the Quantec QRS. It’s also nice that it’s less expensive, though ultimately I would choose on authenticity alone.

A 1:1 UI generally doesn’t make sense for software. The push buttons were a poor experience on the Savant.jamcat wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 12:28 am I will say that if they sound the same, I would opt for Savant, because using it should be pretty much a 1:1 experience to the Quantec QRS. Ilok and price aside, Relab's QRS is probably gonna win in term of accuracy. The LX480 is basically the hardware in plugin form, so this will be the same (and the upcoming REV6000 too).

It's only 50$ more than the Savant one for existing Relab customers (unlike Savant, Relab sussed out the meaning of the term "customer relations") and their QuantX offer so much more than the Savant one... so I'll most probably end up buying it while I'd never have purchased another Savant Quantec emu (what with being in a sulk and all...)Digivolt wrote: Fri Nov 17, 2023 10:00 pm Tough sell given Savant's is almost half the price and sounds brilliant

It's not just the buttons. More importantly it's the parameters and their layout.vitocorleone123 wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 12:46 amA 1:1 UI generally doesn’t make sense for software. They don't, according to someone over over@Gearslutz - and we know the QuantX is a sample-accurate emulation...

Why only a 7 day demo? It's ilok protected. I think Liquidsonics allow a month, which seems reasonable for expensive products.
I'm very curious to see how the added modulation section works with this style of reverb. It's a differentiating factor with the Savant plugin.

Yes, but makes customer confused none the less.Vortifex wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:19 am
This flummoxed me as well. There's nothing in the manual, so I'm assuming it's just a visual representation of the 8 voice modulation system they use rather than actual tweakable parameters.

Yes, from the screenshot this looked to me like a developer tool for tweaking the algorithms, rather than a user-facing feature.Vortifex wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:19 am This flummoxed me as well. The modulation is an interesting feature. I think I read that the uniqueness of the QRS reverb is that it didn't require modulation to prevent frequency build-ups/resonances. A quick test with it gives me the impression that unless it's used very sparingly it destroys the impression of a believable space, i.e. the rooms simulation of which the name derives. But a small amount also adds a bit of life to an otherwise extremely perfect space, and I like that.
