Trancit "As I think many FLS, Ableton and Bitwig users are using many native devices I find it absolutely nonsense and just a marketing gag with these "file" reading of other DAWs other than if you would just restrict yourself with 3rd party plugins but this doesn´t make much sense in any of these DAWs..."
No doubt there are many that use the DAW's proprietary devices, however, that's a bit myopic in terms of usage scenarios. There are plenty of users employing third-party plug-ins, and even if they're not, the more info and data you can transfer, the easier a port to another DAW (say the one a studio, or co-conspirator uses) becomes.

You don’t want to keep discussing FL Studio and Bitwig?

Yep still crashing for me several times a week, doesn't matter which version I am on. I think one of them was more stable than others, maybe 9 but I can't remember.xbitz wrote: Fri Nov 17, 2023 6:36 pm nah, that's exactly why I left AL behind, I don't know how many years ago...
so it's still a problem,

Instead of a new synth, they really need to introduce sandboxing, because Ableton crashing is the worst workflow issue ever. I know a number of producers who moved to Bitwig for this reason. I personally don't like Bitwig as much as Ableton so I wish they fixed this. I hope for this every version, and they never do anything about it. Btw please listen to Armin van buuren at the above time line if someone here doesn't believe us. Im guessing quite a lot of producers would come back to Ableton if they fixed this.

We don't know for certain what kind of technical hurdles Ableton must surpass to implement such a crucial feature like plugin sandboxing in Live. I'm sure they're looking into it, it's been requested to death, but they haven’t figured it out yet. I've been lucky because Live has never crashed on me, but such a feature would certainly improve the reliability of the program for many users who rely heavily on 3rd party plugins and live performances. I really hope Ableton finds a way to tackle this soon enough.

^^^
but this doesn't mean unnecessary stress when performing live, I somehow feel that this should have been included a long time ago, I guess they just don't want to rewrite the whole codebase.
just the results of https://www.kvraudio.com/best-audio-and ... -announced so interesting

I use both bitwig and ableton. Ableton for midi, it’s untouchable regarding midi in my opinion. That they improve on their core strength which is midi is an interesting route.
Ableton weakness is sampling, duplicating, routing, bussing, and that is all there but there are always 2-3 clicks too many.

ffs how can routing all plugin output MIDI to channel 1 make it “untouchable”?
I also have both btw and before anyone starts I’ll just declare I use Reaper the most as it’s more dependable on my system.

Have they still not extended MPE to Operator and the rest of the instruments?

It seems instruments are all MPE enabled now, as in Live 12's release notes https://www.ableton.com/en/release-notes/live-12-beta/ you can read: "Removed the MPE label from the title bars of the following devices: Electric, Simpler, Sampler, Wavetable as all Live instruments can now support MPE."aMUSEd wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 7:13 pm Have they still not extended MPE to Operator and the rest of the instruments?

Operator
Added per-note pitch-bend support to the Operator device, which can be enabled via the Enable Note Pitch Bend context menu entry in the device's title bar. Note: Switching this option off can help preserve a stable pitch when using an MPE controller as input.

I think he meant the Piano Roll editor, but I get you. Reaper is hard to beat routing wise.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 6:13 pm ffs how can routing all plugin output MIDI to channel 1 make it “untouchable”?
Here Reaper and DP have the most extensive routing MIDI out wise.
IMO though, I don't get the piano roll thing? Reaper and DP, and Logic have many more choices for MIDI editing than Live or Bitwig. IMO a lot of this is about people who write in MIDI notes, not editing MIDI data that was played in.
