I've just got Kontakt 7 (7.7) on Windows 11. Cubase 12 Pro

I'm going round and round on geting from the browser to the old layout. The stuff I see in the manual have the little icons on the top left. I only have "File", "Library" and "View"..no icons underneath. I've tried changing stuff in the "View" menu but nothing seems to change, I don't get ticks apparing against "Side Pane" etc. Looked at videos and the online manual, these all show those icons but not how to make them appear.

Help?

Could it be a Mac vs. PC issue perhaps?

Click on the library view (leftmost Icon) The one that looks like 3 books with one at an angle (||\) but also check the icon that looks like a smaller rectangle behind a larger rectangle (minimise/maximise) view.

Also make sure you can see the sidebar.

The icons aren't there, that's my issue.

Are you on Mac or PC?

Either way you'll need to rebuild the database.

I said I'm on PC. I don't think this is a database issue. It's not an issue of library thumbnails not appearing. It's a case of the Kontakt icons for the various views, library etc being missing.

they recently removed those icons in the 7.7.0 update

File, Library, and View have dedicated text labels
Single View / Rack View toggle is now found in View menu
Options is now found in File menu
But they have not (completely) updated the documentation to reflect these changes.

thanks, so to toggle back and forth now requires more work? Also I'm finding whatever I hit I'm not changing the view to the old version with the libraries on the left hand side. I assume that's what they are calling "Rack". Click on it and the while the menu then changes if I hit "View" again, the layout doesn't change.

The reason I'm looking to do that is I need to locate some 3rd party libraries that I want to include in the tile view of the browser. Previously on K6 I accessed them on the left hand side under "Files".

check that for more info. you can go to view -> set current view as default

click the big KONTAKT logo (or "Library") to switch views from the browser to the traditional rack...

@ Funky Lime, oh thank you! I had got the view I wanted previously but couldn't remember how to do it, as you say, it's done by clicking on the "Kontakt" icon.

I was having the same issue, I wanted the old layout back and clicking ‘Rack’ in the View menu was doing nothing. I really dislike the new layout. I somehow finally got it back to the old GUI and then immediately set it as the default, but didn’t remember how it happened.

So where is batch resave in this new layout? I thought it would be under "File", but no.

It's not in the plugin anymore, if you want to batch resave you need to open K7 Standalone.

and - batch resave in an earlier version if you might need to re-open old projects. If you do a batch resave in K7 you can't open them up in K5 or K6. I've started to do my batch resaves in K5 from the plugin, it's in the floppy disk icon menu.

Once I'd solved that I ran into the none of the preset previews are working. I had to try that on the standalone before it would work in the plugin. And not all libraries allow the preview. Albion One has previews, Albion V doesn't.

And then...trying to get the 3rd party libraries to import was a trial....
