Well i tought i should start a new topic after posting in another thread and maybe i shouldn't post this, but you get flamed by defending water and by defending beer so here it goes....

Is this inspiration or..... something else?

just as an example:
[just on youtube there's plenty of these, i'm guessing trained musicians probably detect these a lot easier than most listeners do... or a lot more than those example that are shown on these youtube clips]

This also happens to my brain-ears connection a bunch of times when i hear new recomended music or radio....

Recently some popular music dude from my country did something i tought, hmmmm i f**king heard this before... but that one time i remembered..., OH! it's from that Greek rock band, he just moved the electric guitar chorus to an intro with an acustic guitar part instead... even the vocals have the same timing and melody with diferent lyrics and language.
or that one time when listening to spotify, a space rock band totally sounded like a electric guitar version of morcheeba..

My question now is, did the "originals" also get "inspired" by someone, because the feeling i'm getting is this is trully more often than most people think.

Just a tought, if you want to follow a style or genre there's elements, common places and techniques you'll fall into by default but in some of this cases doesn't feel like inspiration or a guideline... feels like... well....
You have your toughts....

True and i try to mimic styles, techniques, sometimes scales, etc,etc,.... true.
Also if you want something related to p.ex:

- Dub techo - you should probably synthesize those saw OCS's with minor chords or at least something relatable to it. (personally i'd try to do some variations, i like dub techo but many of it sounds the same samey and leads to getting tired of it fast too)
- Country music, it also has it's techniques and usual types of delays on guitars, etc
- The same applies to every genre or geographical area, Rock, Fado, Balcans, Middle East, India, Brasil many local subgenres... all those can be inspirations or guidelines.

What i don't do is flat out mimic notes from bass, keys and strings from a song, sing in the same rythym and melody with a diferent lyric or language, swap a note or two just because reasons, etc, etc.
Then i'd probably interpret it like something else.
