Eastwood make a tribute model to the SG1000 John McGeoch (Magazine, Banshees etc) used to play.

And PIL!
The Revstar is definitely the spiritual successor of the SG. Love mine.

Got an early Christmas present. I ordered it on Oct. 24, it arrived today.
It's the shizz. It brings a guitar to life like no digital reverb I've used.
My new Surfybear Metal spring reverb, a Lennon Casino, into Tonex. Pure bliss.

Had a GAS in-store attack. A 50w valve combo
Ashton Viper VP50
First impressions, distortion channel is lacking, the drive and clean is fine, no overbearing bass like my other combos. It might be the amp or cabinet design but it transmits no bass through the floor. I'll try it through another cab.
Not mine in the picture.

Me every time:
Yay! Fresh strings coming for my acoustic!
Oh no, what the hell did I do with the wirecutters?
Edit: Still didn’t find the damned things.
However, once the old strings were off I did manage to liberate 7 previously lost plectrums from the dimension inside the soundhole.

I’m a strummer/picker not a lead player so I tend to go medium and it’s a Martin so worth getting strings that have some bass presence. The Noodlist wrote: Sun Nov 19, 2023 4:26 pmWhat's your gauge of choice?WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun Nov 19, 2023 2:50 pm Me every time:

This latest batch are Martin 80/20 Bronze Originals mediums, 13-56, nowt fancy. I had the last strings on for about five years, but I eventually got sick of the dead Nick Drake string sound.
What about you? Any recommendations?

I’ve self taught myself appallingly so can only really play anything using a plectrum.Uncle E wrote: Sun Nov 19, 2023 4:41 pmFinger picking is the way forwardWatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun Nov 19, 2023 2:50 pm However, once the old strings were off I did manage to liberate 7 previously lost plectrums from the dimension inside the soundhole.

Funny, someone was giving away a cheap Yamaha classical guitar so I snapped it up and it looked like it had the original strings on it, so I bought some new ones. I guess I have never restrung a classical guitar before.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun Nov 19, 2023 2:50 pm Me every time:

My old hands prefer custom lights, .011-.052 these days.
I did use mediums for a while on my D-28 and my Guild F40. Both are wonders with the .013s, in their own ways. The Guild F-40, all solid jumbo, drop the E to D, and it's a religious experience.
I've gotten carpal tunnel syndrome from too tight/heavy strings before.

I'm not picky, the cheaper the better (Thomann in bulk) after buying strings for over 30 years. I've not really noticed much difference in brands, used Rotosound for years, previously.

…and I did it poorly!

The best thing about a set of strings is for a tenner you can give your guitar a much fresher sound than all the watchamacallits and whoseit gizmos can that we get crazy GAS about.
