The sign up for the open beta is open yes, but they haven't sent the access to the centercode beta forum to the public yet.SLiC wrote: Sun Nov 19, 2023 2:15 pmNot sure what you man by 'Open Beta', AFAIK you just apply on the beta site, its a waiting list (they do it in batches so they are not overwhelmed) but it was 'open' . The people who got there first have the beta, for me it says I am an 'applicant' and I will be notified soon....rod_zero wrote: Sun Nov 19, 2023 1:31 pmOpen beta has not started.nanostream wrote: Sun Nov 19, 2023 10:26 am It has been 5 days already since I’ve applied for beta testing, and Ableton still hasn’t approved me. ''You're on a waiting list for upcoming free slots in the Live 12 Public Beta testing. We will open the doors in regular intervals and let the next batch of people enter, to ensure a steady influx of new testers and fresh pairs of ears and eyes.''
Nevertheless there is a lot of certified trainers and youtubers with access to the beta.

I Live 11 you could activate Rewire and it would work. Is this still an option in Live 12?

You should be able to add fades to multiple clips and glue audio together without making new files though. That's not a difference in workflow to be celebrated, that's Live being flawed at a fundamental level, because basic features like this are in literally every other DAW since forever. Live is never going to be like Cubase or Logic and agree with you that this is a good thing; if they focused on making it the ultimate tape-style DAW it wouldn't be as good for non-linear workflows and parallel processing (with racks) etc, but it wouldn't harm Live one iota if it received a few minor QoL updates to make working with audio a little smoother. One of the good things about Live is its efficient workflow and the potato audio editing is antithetical to this paradigm.rod_zero wrote: Fri Nov 17, 2023 4:04 pm At the end of the day bitwig was founded by ex Ableton developers frustrated with their ways and wanted to make their own version of live.
If bitwig wasn't doing anything different from Live I wouldn't see the point of it existing, I am glad they offer something different and also glad Ableton also goes in other directions.
I don't think DAWs should converge towards the same features and workflows, there wouldn't be able to be good at something in particular.
Forget ARA2 and Atmos integration, forget trying to copy Bitwig's modulation system or its hybrid track workflow (although I believe Reaper can also be channel agnostic) or anything else unique to Bitwig, even plugin sandboxing, all many of us want from Ableton, so that Live can be a better of version of its unique self, is a few simple features that most DAW's had 20 years ago.
Always Read the Manual!

It is crazy that it is still impossible to do multiple fades, trim or select just 2 or more clips without selecting time or any other clip in between. Maybe it is restriction of the architecture.PieBerger wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 9:34 am

Piano roll. maybe you instead use a midi channel, send it to both the plugin + the midi out you want? See what one see as weak point is the strong from anothers perspective and here we have the answer why developers priories different aspects.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 6:13 pm ffs how can routing all plugin output MIDI to channel 1 make it “untouchable”?
I also have both btw and before anyone starts I’ll just declare I use Reaper the most as it’s more dependable on my system.

Sorry if this is OT, but I'm not an Ableton guy. I own Live Intro 8 and have only scratched the surface. Anyway, I was trying to lengthen a midi loop to half tempo over twice the length, two bars. Seemed impossible.
In other DAWS like Reaper or Studio One it's just a matter of Ctrl+ drag the lower corner of the clip. Is this feature missing completely from Live, (unbelievable), or is it just missing from entry level versions?
Or is it done another way in Live?
Thanks for any responses.
I'm asking because v12 is actually looking quite enticing, but I can't even begin to consider a DAW that can't stretch midi clips unfortunately.

It's not either/or, the DAWs that do support plugins sending out multiple MIDI channels also include tools that let you merge to a particular MIDI channel if you like.Datacustic wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 1:42 pmPiano roll. maybe you instead use a midi channel, send it to both the plugin + the midi out you want? Or are you saying its piano roll editor is untouchable? It's good, but not extensible.

These are the two buttons you're wanting (first doubles speed/half length, second halves speed/doubles length):xalama qo wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 1:59 pm Sorry if this is OT, but I'm not an Ableton guy.
