Which LiquidSonics Reverb?

I'm on the fence as to whether I can justify the expenditure for CRP. I had a decent go with the demo, and there's no doubt it's nice, however I'm not sure whether it's really going to mesh with the kind of thing I do. Having said that, who the hell knows where my sonic experiments will go in the future, so due to the ridiculous BF tradition I'm under pressure to make a decision (and the demo has expired).

Has anyone here bought it and found themselves not using it/preferring other styles of reverb?

Incidentally, people talk about the early reflections as being the best, but I was surprised to find in my experiments that Mturboreverb has probably the best early reflection modelling that I've heard. CRP strikes me as pretty similar in the early reflections design to the majority of the market, i.e. it's much like the newer versions of the Elemental Audio verbs, but with added control over cross-mod, which is very nice (and better-implemented than Valhalla Room). The reflection patterns are more organic than Valhalla Room (which is actually more suitable for unrealistic effects), but less so than Mturboreverb.
So it's actually the late stage that appeals to me more in CRP.

If you put u-he Colour Copy before a hall in Cinematic Rooms you will get a massive synth pad sound.
What type of colour copy preset?

I had bought Tai Chi lite last year (before that I had heard the demos of Seventh Heaven which I loved, don’t know why I didn’t buy that one). Is TC regular a lot different sounding than the Lite?

No, it just has more control over parameters, including ducking (which for some including me is extremely useful). I don't use the multiband controls much except for when I want to extend the highs, but then you can do that with the treble contouring anyway. I don't really have need for the bit-crushing tools either, though perhaps I'm missing some creative applications.

I've been doing some ducking in verbs/delays that have it, is it essentially the same as setting up a compressor sidechain on the return? Or are there some benefits of having it done internally? Don't really mind setting that up, only takes a sec and you can save channel strips/templates (in Logic and I'm guessing all the other DAWs).

Reason I ask is that this is one of thing things that I'd like to use and that (iirc) is only available in the pro versions of both CR and TC.

I can’t think of any reverb I have where the ducking is different from putting a compressor after it in the return. I guess if you use it as an insert it might be easier to include it in the reverb, but having a separate comp allows you to control the ducking a lot more. I never use reverbs as inserts, since I like to always put a band pass filter in front of them.

I have both TC Regular and Lite and use Lite more because of the simpler interface. The underlying sound is the same, but the tweakability is obviously greater in Regular. I'm an algorithmic reverb junkie who has tried most everything out there and find I simply end up using reverbs with fewer controls and sub-pages (with Exponential Audio R4/Nimbus as the exception).

@chagzuki - I have CRP as well. It does sound fantastic - but so do many others, and I only mix in stereo (and mono) so I can't speak to its surround features. If demo-ing doesn't convince you it's essential, you can probably pass. But that said with the demise of the 2C reverbs and with iZotope not really developing the Exponential reverbs further down the path that Michael Carnes created (Neoverb doesn't count IMO) - the LiquidSonics stuff is a great replacement. To my ears Acon Verberate is in the same ballpark as CRP character & quality-wise with a much simpler interface.

Had a quick go with the demo, it sounds nice. The big difference is the cross-feed control, or lack of. That's a big deal, imo, in terms of choosing how stuff sits and moves in the stereo field. Curiously, I realised that the different modes in Valhalla Room behave differently in this respect, and can somewhat approximate CRP, but are harder to dial in and to remember which modes do exactly what. Also, Valhalla Plate has some nice options in this regard.

Am I right to think that buying Lustrous Plates will result in a 20% discount voucher? And that there's no limit to how many vouchers can be stacked on a single item?

yes.
you can find the terms on their page.

- you have to request the voucher code, after you purchased a Reverb !...these are not "just there"
- each -of their- plugins you own is good to get a voucher code !
- you can stack the voucher codes (if you have several) for a fresh purchase.
- you can reuse / or re-request new codes for the next purchase !
- So, on any new purchcase, are all the codes from all the LS/RV plugins you own, freshly usable/re-usable !
- Buy wise !....just buy one at a time !....then hunt for the code, then buy the next one ! even if a package purchase was planned.

edit: only buy these at BF deals !
edit 2: buy the most expensive one latest
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

Eh? You can keep using the same voucher on multiple purchases? That doesn't sound right... clearly it excludes the upgrade vouchers from lite versions... or maybe those don't use a voucher but rather an upgrade price, I can't remember. But the others can be used over and over? That would actually make the prices quite reasonable.

Yes, you can use them several times, I asked Matt a few months ago. Look at it as a discount, the more plugins you own the more discount you get, just a bit of an odd way of doing it compared to the way other companies have similar schemes.

Wow, I'm reading through the rather complicated terms on the website, and I'm not seeing that info. That's really a game-changer. In that case I can pick up Lustrous Plates at a good discount before finally going for CRP.

Yes - it just means the more products you own, the more discount you get off (all) future purchases.

I mentioned the spreadsheet at vi-control. If you are a bargain-hunting freak (raises hand) it's both amazing and super dangerous. The discounts do indeed stack, meaning the last thing you buy will have the most savings (so that should be CRP if you want it, in most cases). It runs down all the scenarios and I do mean all of them.

Post

so if i buy Cinematic Rooms Standard, then upgrade to Cinematic Rooms Pro, both vouchers stack?
I already own TaiChi and the Plates which i use all the time, curious about the Cinematic Rooms
