I ran the new Mastering over a Jam track and it improved it nicely:

The only difference i hear on phones (no EQ settings so I can hear the track unblemished) is the mastered mix is louder. If thats what you're aiming for than you got it done and that can be done with any DAW. As far as spacing, there's no difference between each file.

Post

I didn't really aim for anything, I was just seeing what it does. (Without any idea of what to expect).
I guess the "Transparent" setting makes things louder. It did make eq adjustments, maybe they are too subtle.

As far as mastering, unless you have an EQ with L/MS options, it's junk. And don't pay any attention to what T Racks users have to say about that.

Post

I usually just mix my tracks and don't worry about mastering. This does include altering eq for each track. I'm not worried about any final mastering if it sounds good to me.

I was just trying it out to see what it does.

Thanks for your listen and input.

I just tested it against Ozone and the initial track analysis with the Logic assistant did a better job. Of course that doesn't mean much as you never really use the initial analysis, you always tweak it.

Ozone has a lot more features but considering this thing is free with Logic I would say it's really pretty good.

I've never liked the output of Ozone's AI mastering. It's always sounded way too harsh or overblown to me vs just doing it by hand. The Logic one sounded a little more natural in comparison and keeps the chain fairly minimal in comparison.
Studio One // Bitwig // Logic Pro // Ableton // Reason // FLStudio // MPC // Force // Maschine

Yeah agreed, I've never used Ozone's without a lot of modifications to its suggestions. Same with Neutron. I love them both but they are not perfect at analyzing for sure. Apple's did a lot better IMO.

I also tried it out first time and as i have no clue about mastering i am happy so far with it.
At least i think it is better as what i am able to do myself ;)

Having a quick look at this for the first time; they've really opted for minimal controls, it seems. Is there no option to smooth the curve? I can't see how notchy cuts and boosts is desirable in most circumstances, and presumably it's trying to level out the resonances of the main elements, kick and snare body etc., unless there's some clever AI that knows to not do this. But of course you can just use it as a guide and dial the general curve into a mastering EQ.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Post

That's iZotope's thing too, the initial suggestions are often a bit notchy. Generally you want to smooth them a bit.
