A fellow a few years ago contacted developer who agreed to release this free...

However THAT guy's site is gone now thus the download however I was contacted by another who has it here-

https://zahrada.svita.cz/en/ultranos-dreamer

Heavily influenced in design by Reason, can make it's 'own' refills & can use VSTs (They'd better be old quality one's)

Cool piece of code not quite complete...

This is pretty cool and comes with demo songs!

Yes, Agreed... I was playing with the Musashi Synth it does great 303 & automation is pretty much like Rebirth I would figure Rebirth fanatics would be all over this

Probably has the 'purdiest' Knobs for GUI-less plugs of anything-
Image

Right up there with Skale Tracker that's the 'purdiest' for sliders-

The fact is that it's too good looking to not use & with funky-cool features of yesteryear looks like i will have to start testing out VSTs & see what works, Looks like it reads internal presets we'll have to see I saw that automation on any plug is possible as well does not have to have the 'hookup'

It's like an old Harley, Not the best ride but first-class style for sure

And the guy was in his teens when he started coding this!... He stated he makes more on a coffee break now then he ever did the whole time selling Ultrano...

BTW... Many call it 'Ultranos', I don't know why maybe it's a mandela effect deal I always heard 'Ultrano' & that is what is on the GUI

Post

I can't get my synthedit vst2 effects to work, they read as 0 inputs but it should be 2.

Maybe I need even older plugins, I'm still enjoying dreamer though.

I haven't tried any synthedit plugs yet but make sure the 'DryMIx' button is NOT green as this mutes some but not all plugs-

Have tried the GUI-Less MDA DX10-JX10-ePiano-Piano all working great presets within are mounted on the wrapper dashboard switching between them no problem but switching to Beast caused crash but trying again but this time deleting whole Velosity wrapper then making brand new one no crash.

The legacy freeware Audio Damage stuff worked I tried Phosphor & Basic for generators & Ronin, Fluid & Vapor for FX so far never a crash changing out FX without changing wrapper.

What else... VSTzone Eclipsis worked well, Full Bucket Kern worked well probably other FB too as all that is C++, SoHa Sonata worked well... Numerous GUI-Less FX worked & FabFilter Volcano 2 just great.

Automation can be done from plug GUI or the Knobs every plug seems to get some with many pages of knobs.

You can record directly to the sequencer from MIDI keyboard while running but there seems to be no step record function or yet to be discovered... You get your notes & velocities, Plugs that can pitch bend will sound but there's no recording of it, same with modwheel... Workaround is to find suitable parameter to automate in plugin to provide same effect.

I automate by first making sure loop is OFF & that enable automation is ON (it will be yellow) and that you are on song mode and the bars start-finish above the enable automation are the 'sector' you need so it don't go off to infinity. Double-click the 'stop' button to make sure you return to beginning of sequencer then push in the record button, THEN the play button start fiddling a knob or two, STOP hit it twice again, play you will see your knobs turning. There's a deal where it resets the plugs to zero before you start that's all in the HELP.

If your sequencer not running right make sure other devices not sharing same input or output MIDI channel even though they are not active can make sequencer not come alive.

So Far quite impressed, what a hoot and the Musashi Synth is a great 303 they should have this in the competition over at-

https://www.acidvoice.com/tb_303_vst_pl ... ftware.htm

High Marks in my book it has all the squelches & chirps going on, Going to have to try importing Rebirth RBS into the Musashi & see if that feature works

Hope that helps all, grab this up & mess with it Do it, DO IT!!

Testing a few more before hitting the sack-

Green Oak Crystal Crash everytime loading
Tone2 Firebird just Fine...GREAT!
Big Tick Angelina Load fine but note runs, no bueno
Big Tick EP-Station GREAT!
Film-Composer Precog Fine, I believe that's a SynthMaker Plug
Full Bucket Ragnarok Fine but needed 'Dry Mix' button shut off as mentioned before
RGC Triangle II Fine & Dandy

Good Night-

OK cracking on decided to make a multi-keysplit instrument in Akemi. A simple 4 zone actually was simpler than thought. There is no low adjust for your low sample nor high for the high it simply covers what is left of the whole range. Only when you Rt-Clk & choose to Keysplit the zone do the low & root adjustments come alive-

Image

Also decided to test the Refill Packer by packing the 4 samples & the one patch plus image for refill & whatever text just like old Reason...Worked great, closed out Ultrano & Restarted & loaded an Akemi & browsed to Refill-

Image

Also tested some other sqmplers-

PAAX2 & PAAX3 CM Edition - No sound for either
Muon DS-404 CM - Loads OK but there's note run-ons, no bueno
Cakewalk DropZone - Loads Fine & Plays well through all patches except for any loops then there's a crash so OK for just Instrument Patches.

Also tested MaxSynths Bass Module loaded fine but note run-ons so no use. I think theirs were Synthedit

There appears to not be any panic button feature in Ultrano

Post

I figured it out ; click the above module's out jack and then click vst audio input jack and a number 1 appears and it turns on. Vst instruments already work for me.

Yeah, That's the method, anything the output can be connected to will be in a yellow box, same method for MIDI side

I confirm though that the RV1 Reverb won't connect to anything like the hoster said on his site

SQBL works in Ultrano just fine

The Ahyila Machine works in it to my surprise

Zonax WS-S1 Pro Wavesampler works well too it appears to be a SynthMaker concoction

Appears as though if the dashboard does not display correct preset then the preset won't be saved in the songfile and some the preset will be 'one off'' so you just hit forward then backward on the preset selector, weird

Rendering to WAV works fine, Your whole Utrano project will disappear until it's done no worries

Next is to test sampler with many large samples I got a 25 split scarbee with large 16bit WAVs going to make that up & see how it goes

Oddly enough the sequencer has fixed lengths to choose from per measure none of them triplet happy but Musashi & the CR1 Drum Computer have internal sequencers that can be any length to 32 steps. Still one can come in & out of triplet in a 16 step pattern but if you need more in a line other workarounds needed

BUTT HAY!...it's the coolest oldie really. I'm surprised it loads the plugs it does being over 20 years old. Removing plugs from the VST folder then refreshing does remove them from list but many still existing get doubled in the list.

What does the record button at the top do, it toggles but I don't know where the recorded stuff could be. Is it a wav file or are the modules performances being recorded. The chm manual says its like a tape recorder, so it must be saving performances.

Look like I'll have to use vb audio cable to record it.

Only thing I have used it for is automation as stated in previous post & the other is when you have a sequencer device piped in then all hooked to your MIDI controller along with Akemi being the target of the sequencer. Inside the sequencer is where you have your tracks. In song mode you can record your MIDI to the sequencer piano roll while it's running on one or many tracks at a time. But for step recording you gotta paint in notes in the piano roll.

You don't hafta put all ur tracks on one sequencer you can have as many sequencers as you want and the mixer can handle more than one input per jack.

Anyways the tracks INSIDE the sequencer & the INTERNAL sequencers inside the Drum Module & Musashi are the only sectors that record MIDI to trigger theirs or Akemi or your own VSTi. of course I could be missing something would be nice if the help file was a bit more thorough.

Pretty good luck with the Quilcom stuff like a lifetime of VSTi-VST but some take 30 seconds to fully load in but fine after-

http://flowstoners.com/quilcom

The old Angular Momentum OK too Wavedraw & Freehand, ftec Formant good

Post

using lots of RAM is the most common cause of scanning and loading hangs from Synthmaker/Flowstone

-try mine if u like from www.phonicsaudio.com

this looks cool, just getting Reason 4 up these last few computing hours
I wonder what I want in here
-my site is gone and music a mess

Post

Cool, I am Reason 3 user. The plugs aren't really 'hanging' as they always work & it's just some of those, the older synthmaker Wavedraw, freehand, anna, formant, uniretro, etc come right up.
Ultrano simply lists the plugs sorta like IoNeo Aero Studio.
Thanks for the plugs I'll have to get a friend to try & grab them no matter what browser I use It just says it ain't redirecting properly

Post

thanks for possibly trying again,
it's working here on Edge
(it says anyone with the link can download, Google is the provider, which u would think was solid.
I did use Bitly to count the downloads, maybe I should stop doing that)

I have Reason 3 too,
but I'm using 4 because of VM Ware compatibility issues

I think I should get and try this host, ta

Peeps do want to try and create nice stuff in the easier domain of linking plugs to build them
I wonder what I want in here
-my site is gone and music a mess

OK, Gotcha - No my problem is that I use XP so there's a limit on what 'vintage' browsers will work with this-that.

I gave my windows 10 machine to wife last xmas because I hated it even though it was pretty zippy as I never let it connect to the internet. Not long after wife started using it now it updates constantly (spying) settings change, slow as hell & everything else.

Butt Hay, XP same no matter what.

Yeah I stay with Reason 3 because it's 800x600 compat so good on netbooks with the small rez plus I thought the device 'wings' on Reason 4 a bit useless. I think I have made over 180 GB of refills so far so for awhile making refills became the hobby

Ultrano seems to like SynthMaker plugs & dislikes Synthedit. Skale Tracker hates SynthMaker plugs. Fopr me its fun to test but probably will mostly use Ultrano's Akemi sampler along with Musashi plus third-party FX plugs for music making.

So for now making Akemi refill instruments is the hobby.
