I already own TaiChi and the Plates which i use all the time, curious about the Cinematic Rooms
No.

You cannot use the loyalty discount of the product you are upgrading toward the upgrade.

I had a decent go with the demo, and there's no doubt it's nice, however I'm not sure whether it's really going to mesh with the kind of thing I do. Having said that, who the hell knows where my sonic experiments will go in the future, so due to the ridiculous BF tradition I'm under pressure to make a decision (and the demo has expired).

Has anyone here bought it and found themselves not using it/preferring other styles of reverb?

Incidentally, people talk about the early reflections as being the best, but I was surprised to find in my experiments that Mturboreverb has probably the best early reflection modelling that I've heard. CRP strikes me as pretty similar in the early reflections design to the majority of the market, i.e. it's much like the newer versions of the Elemental Audio verbs, but with added control over cross-mod, which is very nice (and better-implemented than Valhalla Room). The reflection patterns are more organic than Valhalla Room (which is actually more suitable for unrealistic effects), but less so than Mturboreverb.
So it's actually the late stage that appeals to me more in CRP.
CRP is my default reverb. I only use it unless it’s not delivering something specific I have in mind that’s more atypical or retro.

Maybe you did, but you need to really learn all the controls that control the early and late reflections.

To my ears, it’s the best reverb of all time (so far).

Yes, I went a bit OCD. CRP reflections are very much the same style as EA Stratus and Symphony, the latter two having the benefit of a visual representation of the reflection patterns, but CRP having the benefit of crossfeed controls (which is a big deal to me), and actually the EA stuff is fixed in terms of stereo behaviour except for a global width control. As I say, MTurboReverb has more organic early reflections in the sense that they trail off/fade/disperse, which actually probably makes no difference when combined with the late stage in a mix setting, but certainly makes the early reflections sound less artificial when listened to in isolation, particularly on percussive sounds. I think it's mostly the more sophisticated stereo behaviour that puts CRP above the EA reverbs.

Seventh Heaven is great at early reflections and small ambiences, which is something not many verbs excel in. Mix in just a little and it doesn't even sound like reverb, more like an expensize 3D-izer or something.
You right. I'm testing at the moment. And I'm a bit disapointed.
Yes it sound great, but it's not night and day with the Eventide UltraRerb.
I'm able to match most of the presets.

But I believe, the real deal it's the quality of each preset, very well balanced and ready to use.
The UltraRerb need more work to reach the same balance.

I'm testing Cinematic Rooms and Pro and I have a question for those who use it: do you find the chorusing to be extremely subtle? I turned it up on both reflections and reverb and it's barely noticeable. Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong. (I know it's not meant to be an 'effect' type reverb, which is why I'm testing Tai Chi also.)

Post

Yeah I think it is suppose to be subtle in every aspect of its operation.

As someone else said, it is my favourite reverb (didn't think anything could have surpassed EA stuff until this did).

I'm waiting for the MCF sale (Matt's Christmas Fund :) ) to see whether I decide to pick up some more LS stuff. I see an upgrade to the full version of Tai Chi on the cards at least, and possibly something platey, or roomey... we'll see....

Sadly (fortunately?) I already have all I want from them, (all their algorithmic stuff) they need to make more stuff :)

Yep. CRP is intended for realistic to somewhat realistic reverb duties. TaiChi picks up where it leaves off from mostly realistic to mostly unrealistic.

A lot of chorusing is more an effect than realistic.

Thanks. My current favorites are the EA verbs, but I also like these. I can dial in a lot more chorusing with Symphony but I guess that's more akin to Tai Chi.

I already own Seventh Heaven Professional. Does anyone know the cheapest path to pick up CRP and TC based on past Black Friday deals? I've looked at the spreadsheet mentioned earlier but unfortunately I already purchased one of the most expensive plugins so I can't get the ideal discount.

I think it's TCL -> CR -> TCU -> CRU but I have no idea what the final price would be. All those compounding percentages!

LS Black Friday sale is now on, and I've rinsed it good and proper already..! :tu:

How accurate is HD Cart supposed to be as an emulation of the 480L? It's supposed to be light on the CPU, so I gather it's not using IRs like 7th Heaven.

It's an emulation of just one part of the 480 rather than an emulation of the complete unit. For a comparison you'd need to find someone with that rare cartridge.

Is Tai Chi a Lexi type reverb? I already used up the demo ages ago and don’t even recall auditioning it. Do I need it if I have Relab 480, UA 224 and the Arturia 224?
